Other than the fact that I have (well, had) to use wasd navigation because it bitched that some of my numpad keys were "reserved" and the UI thing? No, the controls for Skyrim are shit, utter shit.

If turning up the mouse speed doesn't work, fiddling with the in-game mouse sensitivity settings. (Generally, more sensitivity translates to "slower" mouse movements.) Might have something to do with your cursor seemingly jumping around too.

First thing I did when starting playing was changing the direction keys to the number pad.![]()

WASD is proper old-school gaming, doesn't bother me. Hoping to get it for PS3 or 360 for Christmas though.
Number pad? But why? WASD is old-school gaming?
Has everyone gone mad?
I could have had class. I could have been a contender.
I could have been somebody. Instead of a bum
Which is what I am

But sometimes I hit London
I am too accustomed to using a keyboard and mouse (WASD) to be able to play any console games without getting totally frustrated with controller.
Yes I am a dinosaur.

If you can afford $5.33 for the Humble Bundle, you get 12 indie games and some soundtracks, plus Steam keys. Two of the games are in the Steam Holiday achievement for today.
Not a bad deal.

Finally post something useful in this thread. Aside from the occasional League of Legends, I recently bought skyrim (J/k) I bought Batman Arkham Asylum off steam for 5 bucks. It's the older one (not the newer one). Looks like a lot fun, still tryin' to install it, but I am excited for it. Apparently it combines alittle bit of detective work/puzzles into the storyline/fights. Came recommended by friends, and had like a 91/100 metagame score so sounds good. If it can pass through that many filters and be rated good, more than likely it'll pass my filter as well.
Arkham Asylum is great. Got Arkham City for Christmas looks great so far. Also got Skyrim but not starting that yet and amongst others a 3DS plus Super Mario 3D Land which seems great.![]()
Skylanders.
Good for the boy, not a game I would play by myself, but GREAT to play with him.

That the one with the collectible toys? Looks good fun for a kid.
Starting in on the new Star Wars mmo from Bioware. Playing for real rather than doing late-stage beta testing. Love all the dialog, hate the lack of inventory tools.

Yep, it's Pokemon that you can actually hold in your hand...
The Boy's biggest issue is he keeps swapping out the mini's in mid play so they don't gain levels as fast. (though they do remember what xp they already earned)

Been playing the Old Republic MMO.
I like it so far..like WoW a bit, but with a story.
Good start for a vanilla MMO launch.![]()
Not really. They're having a huge unplanned downtime right now, in addition to the planned downtime. Which they can't tell people about properly, because at least the German version's status update ends in mid sentence in the launcher (Roughly quoted: "If you want to know more please" and that's it)
But if you make your way on your own to the official site, you're told that you have to queue. On. A. Website.... Queues. The mind boggles.
Not to mention that the planned downtimes also take down the official site.
I mean, it's sort of shaming for a company if they have to distribute their messages over a 3rd party service (i.e. Twitter).

It's still a good launch.
Extended maintenance isn't rare or unexpected, can't think of a single MMO I've played that hasn't had it.
Vanilla WoW wasn't nearly as smooth, (much as I love WoW, it's true.)
Been playing since release without so much as a DC so far, just the occasional salvage bug here and there.
Can't speak for your experience, but mine's been good.
And yeah, the website queue is weird..never seen that before.
EDIT: Servers are up.![]()
Went back to playing Clash of Heroes. Surprisingly good game. And bug-free, unlike Heroes VI.
Hope is the denial of reality
Uh, instead of serving this "queue" webpage, they could've also served a static website which told the people coming there what was really going on.
Also, scaling of web servers is not exactly rocket science - plenty of big companies like Amazon and Microsoft manage just fine. I'd expect a software giant like EA to be better than that.

Its EA, you get both. The queue commonly gets so long that it hammers the service enough to cause disconnects as soon as you get passed to a rep, or the rep completely ignores the question and disconnects after proving a completely unrelated answer (keeping personal chat time below a threshold?).
Origin support has always been a joke.

Steam holiday sales got to me, too
But Solar 2 is a very fun game!
In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.
I've enjoyed the few minutes of it that I've played so far.

Reviews are looking sweet.
Seems most of the elements that made WoW the MMO benchmark are there.
Won't get to play today, but maybe tomorrow.
25GB download. Hm.

Might do a small LAN party with some neighbours - we thought Civ V would be nice for multiplayer - but does anyone know how long a multiplayer game in there roughly takes? And how does setting it to the fastest mode change the gameplay? Because we probably don't want 12+ hour games..
Keep on keepin' the beat alive!
A game of four or five player-controlled civs on a small map is still probably going to take you a fair while. And the MP is not that great, even with the last two patches being primarily MP support. I recently stopped doing a series of cooperative games with one friend of mine on standard maps and most games took us probably about twelve to fifteen hours to complete.

Just finished my first flashpoint The Esseles - pretty nicely done. Though a tad on the long side, for a starter instance. At this point, one does not actually need specialized roles, so it doesn't matter if you put 2 tanks or 1 dps and a healer into the group. With the suggested amount of players (2 in this case), the boss fights can be a bit hairy and you also need to look out for enemy groups you don't want.
The mechanic with the story telling is solved in an interesting way - during solo play you can choose the way the conversation progresses by choosing one of three options. It's the same inside a flashpoint, only that everyone who participates in a discussion (and you can choose not to participate actively) chooses his answer - and then a dice is thrown to see whose answer gets actually chosen.
What worries me a bit is the fact that I chose the tank specialization and I don't exactly see any tank related abilities crop up yet. Well, at least I got the cool double lightsaber.
