"One day, we shall die. All the other days, we shall live."
So Google has turned from a search engine, into a company that develops gimmick products?
Praise the man who seeks the truth, but run from the one who has found it.
Grocery ordering refrigerators and plates that update Twitter aren't gimmick projects?
Praise the man who seeks the truth, but run from the one who has found it.
Google hasn't been a "search engine" in a long time.
A fridge that keeps a shopping list would be amazing. and the plate that can recognize food has all kinds of positive benefits.
"In a field where an overlooked bug could cost millions, you want people who will speak their minds, even if they’re sometimes obnoxious about it."
The vast majority of Google's revenue comes from ads...
That's true but I never really thought Google would venture outside of the internet. Although if there is I'm obviously not aware of them, but I don't think I've ever seen non-internet related projects from Google.
True. It seems like those products would be rather inefficient though. If a person were to have a spontaneous grocery list, this refrigerator wouldn't do them much good unless it was programmed to order specific items. And even then it would be cheaper to do so on a computer.

When the stars threw down their spears
And watered heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the lamb make thee?
and their google earth software predates that![]()
