Thread: RomneyRyan 2012!

  1. #661
I learned during the debate that things not being true are less relevant than all-caps.
I could have had class. I could have been a contender.
I could have been somebody. Instead of a bum
    Which is what I am

    I aim at the stars
    But sometimes I hit London

  2. #662
Wow, a few new polls put Romney up or tied in many of the swing states where he was losing 5+% last week. Should be interesting to see if the boost from the debate lasts.
Hope is the denial of reality

    Does it usually?

No idea what the immediate effect usually is. The effect generally doesn't last, though some claim that performance in debates helped change the outcome of the 1960 and 2000 election.

Logically and rationally it should be better than trying to kill them on the ground, albeit not "ok".

This is nice, I can't help but wonder how we'll cope with this as a forum

Saying "bitch I will beat the shit out of you" towards a Presidential candidate probably isn't a good idea. As much as Snoop Dogg posts stupid stuff online (EG him smoking pot with his son), I think Snoop Dogg actually endorsed Ron Paul months ago.

    Fake?

  9. #669
Snoop posted it to his instagram page. Without mentioning that he got it from a tweet by this guy.

How's that? When brown people get killed from the air, it doesn't even make the news. No one gives a damn. The odds of such an operation being aborted for public opinion reasons are nil. The same isn't true if it's American boys doing the killing (and getting killed) on the ground.

This is false. People care, there are apps out there that track drone strikes and can be set to alert you when new strikes are made. They may not care a lot, but for some people it ranks somewhere slightly higher than not giving a damn.

Yeah, because when I said "no one", clearly I meant every single person on this planet. I would like to know how many people vote against Obama because of those strikes.

so its not no one not caring at all, but also not the most pressing of concerns for those that are aware

    as my correction stated.

Did you read the point I made? Do you think anywhere as many people care about the drone strikes relative to the number that cared about Iraq/Afghanistan (even when they were going well)?

That wasn't nearly as sensationalist or dishonest, and I doubt it was any harder to type than the original.

Rachel had a somewhat embarrassing infograph about the correlation between the first debate between incumbent and challenger over US history
In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

A correlation needs at least 2 variables. What's the other variable?

oooh I forgot, this is your forum. You didn't want to contradict Rand when he said all US politicians use God BS, okay!

I still think the "Foreign Policy" debate will have Romney making first mention of our Judeo-Christian moral duty behind a strong military presence in the middle east/Africa. And trying to use that religious-based morality to defend increasing our military budget.

I think he's going to hit Obama for the deaths in Libya. Obama played politics with the news on the Ambassadors death - pretty shitty thing to do. Secondly he's going to draw a line on backing Israel compared to Obama. I expect Obama to talk endlessly about Osama Bin Laden.

Romney might try to "hit" Obama with deaths everywhere and everywhere. Yemen, Syria, Libya, Egypt, Myanmar, Darfur, Mars.

I don't think being cautious during an international crisis is a "shitty thing" for any President or their appointees. I think that's part of diplomacy and national security. What was "really shitty" was Romney trying to jump into the media fray before having all the facts, just to score some political points.

Israel will definitely come up, along with Iran's nuclear capabilities. RED lines, imaginary lines, perceived threats, real threats. Romney should be forced to back up his accusations that President Obama has "thrown Israel under the bus". And he should definitely be tasked with specifics about putting more US troops in harm's way, along with his proposals to INCREASE military spending.

True, but if you accept that white American boys and brown people are equally valuable then it should be worse to risk more equally valuable lives by trying to do the killing on the ground. If you're going to do the killing anyway then doing it by drone is preferable to doing it by boy. Of course, the most preferably alternative is to not do the killing at all--an alternative that would probably be preferred by GGT and abhorred by Lewkowski.

Let's be honest, the main criteria GGT has for supporting or opposing military conflicts is whether they're carried out by Republican or Democratic presidents.

I'm reasonably sure GGT doesn't go much further than to oppose attacks on Democratic presidents based on the killing of people. But if you can find an example of brownie-killing that GGT actively supports then I'll concede this point. Until then, I am neither with you nor against you

Have you ever seen her criticize Obama or Clinton for killing brown people?

  26. #686
To be fair I'm not sure she criticised Bush for it either? I recall the concern is a parochial one for dead Americans not foreigners.

She did. Bush was the ultimate warmongerer apparently. If he only killed more brown people from the air, she might be fine.

They asked for additional security, the administration said no.

In terms of "cautious" what was cautious about lying and saying it was a video that sparked the mob as opposed to an out right terrorist attack? It was a sad pathetic political play to try to avoid blame being cast on the administration for the lack of security.

One difference I can think of, Iraq wasn't attacking the USA, where as Al Qaeda presumably is. And killing people from the air, well, it cuts your own losses to pretty much zero, I can understand that a commander in chief is more concerned about his own losses than his enemy's.
