His own words caused that. Thats even more awesome.

Gone from a snowballs chance in hell to a cold day in hell.

I wanted Obama to be elected, but am happy to acknowledge when I was wrong and think he's been a very poor president. Don't believe Romney has much chance but his numbers are improving.

33% according to the NY Times, in contrast to the 20% he's been for the last few months. Obama's still on pace to get 290 electoral votes though.
Hope is the denial of reality

Why do you think he's been a "very poor president"?

  7. #3907
Because he smokes, wastes money and can't wait for gratification

    Middle one.

He's shown absolutely no restraint in spending and is building up another crisis ready to happen/doing nothing to long-term address the issues behind this one. Its bad enough the baby boom retirement crisis that we've known is coming at least since I was a kid studying in the 90s without wasting trillions now while the boomers are still working.

Wow, I had no idea Obama was such a powerful person. Let alone a dictator. Or that he should carry all the mistakes of previous generations, prior administrations, current congressional gridlock....and also be tasked with fixing the World-at-Large!

No wonder you think he's been a poor president, if you think POTUS has such magical and transformational powers.

In your world "showing restraint" is a magical power?

In your world, "spending restraint" in one administration can magically fix those problems built over generations and decades?

Making callsheets I actually like doing this, working the schedule out, organizing everything, finding out what we are forgetting now, so that everything is though tof before we start filming. Guess I'm crazy like that

Yeah, well global financial meltdowns tend to change things, too.

Funny thing about that --- the demographics of 80 million baby boomers ageing and retiring, and needing health care in their longevity, has been a known factor for a very long time. We hoped the "experts" of medicine, finance, insurance, and political economy could have managed the coming tsunami, but they didn't. It wasn't for lack of attempt, or absence of good intentions.

But it's still a big fat failure.

On the political side it was absolutely a lack of serious effort. Bush was the only one with the balls to touch how we set up SS (previous administrations have done tweaks) and it cost him big. Both parties refuse to take this seriously because the stark reality is this. Benefits will have to be cut.

Anyone else reading between the lines and thinking Porn/Hot Tub Time Machine?

On a completely different note, scored another increase in pay and on Saturday I get a chance to visit disused London Underground stations, have a go on the LU training simulator and also sit in with a driver between several stops.

No, but I never claimed that he could did I?

In fact what I said was that its "bad enough" that existing problems exist, without making it worse by piling it on. I don't think many people understand the fundamental problem of compound interest. I mean its basic school level stuff, not magic. Obama hasn't even tried to fix the problems, he's instead made it worse.

I just remembered that I'd chucked some coffee-beans into a bottle of hazelnut liqueur. Turns out it makes a damned tasty sort of White Russian white Mongolian?

No work for a while... my last afternoon/evening/night/morning on call has perhaps been the best one so far, despite a bunch of bad cases, and it ended with the best door-to-needle time yet at 11 mins with no obvious errors in management I'm getting more and more superstitious by the day though. Literally one minute after I nervously said that I'd soon be free and that this was gonna be a chill morning as long as we don't have an acute stroke patient please dear and fluffy lord just let me get off my shift without any further hitches BAM the acute stroke alarm goes off. The end of my last night on call thus eerily reflected my first, but this time it went a lot better and I got off my shift a smiling and happy zombie.

I hope you guys never have to go to the ED as patients, but, if you do, I hope you're received by the kind of amazing teams I've had the pleasure of working with for the past few months

Bitter's post made me happy. That he's drunk in NOLA is an even happier occasion!

  26. #3926
OMG! it's been years since I've been this drunk. Stephen too.

  27. #3927

So long as your custom Cruiser isn't involved, sharing your drunken stories could make us vicariously happy.

  28. #3928
No, we be walkin the French quarter.

  29. #3929
Come back later to share your stories, Bitter. The French quarter (and NO in general) was such a vibrant place last time I visited. A grand experience for all the senses. But that was before the devastation of Hurricanes Rita and Katrina.....

    NOLA? New Orleans something?
