The prosecution asked for 4 years, the judge gave 7. The judge allowed "witnesses" whose sole mission was to talk about their lost loved ones. Incompetent and and malevolent.

That's horrible.The Bridal Gallery which Amanda's ordered her wedding dress from (for which we've put a hefty deposit down for) has gone bankrupt.
May be able to reclaim deposit from credit card company but her heart was on that dressHopefully she has some pics of the dress, and could hire a seamstress to make another one....even better!
That said, when those big bridal companies go bankrupt, they're forced to sell their inventory--including the rack dresses used for try-ons and future orders. Maybe she can get ahold of the actual dress at deep discount, have it tailored and dry-cleaned? It's worth a try anyway. (I got my 'designer' bridal gown in a similar way, and it turned out great, for $65 off the rack)

Hurricane Sandy caused my furnace to fritz. The repairman said Met Ed's grid outages and power-on-off surges made the gas feed go into Fail mode, part of a safety feature, or something. Not a huge deal, just inconvenient, after being without power too.
But the massive problems in New Jersey and New York....13 states in all....is a nightmare. A national mess. Whoever says we don't need to rebuild our Infrastructure, and pay attention to climate change/weather change, is in denial.

Decent policy jobs require at least some prior experience. You get them after working as a professor, not before. Overqualified for the non-decent policy jobs.

Would there be anything to lose by challenging that conventional wisdom? Perhaps you could use your expertise to show a Think Tank (or other policy-oriented wonk employers) the benefits of NOT having been a professor first. You could be the fresh face they need in the new frontier....where stodgy old professors promise nothing new.
