They apparently fired all the writers, but will continue next season. I think there is a lot of potential, I'm staying entertained with it.

A full year, and after just 6 episodes. That kind of wait can kill series.
I has killed better series. I don't really know if I care with the way things are going now. There is no real narrative, every developement is cut off pretty much just before the titles roll.

Pregnant! That's brilliant! And its the partner's kid. haha! Actually, I don't care much for pregnancy dramas. A couple comments....
a. I think firing the writers was a good move.
b. I think a lot of opportunties for good story, good drama were missed in the CDC episode. I think making the world already dead was a mistake. I think making the CDC manned by the one guy was a mistake. I think blowing it up was a mistake.
c. I wonder if this first season follows the graphic novel very closely? Is that why they wrote it the way they did?
d. I'm staying entertained by it too. I see a lot of mistakes, but all and all its as good as any zombie movie you're likely to see.

Here's a question: why would he give a shit about blood tests if he knew the place was going to blow up in a day or so? Why lock them in, for that matter? That blowing up thing came right out of the blue and IMO was crappily done.
I don't know if it will be a full year or not. Maybe next fall? Or earlier. Cable plays by different rules. I suppose I could look it up....

On August 31, 2010, Darabont reported that The Walking Dead had been picked up for a second season, with production to begin in February 2011. On November 8, 2010, AMC confirmed that there would be a second season consisting of 13 episodes.[3] Darabont, who wrote and directed the pilot, spoke of his plans to introduce fan favorite Michonne early on in the second season's run. He would also like to include some of the "environmental elements" that take place during Volume 2 of Kirkman's book.[15]
On December 1, 2010, Deadline.com reported that Darabont had fired his writing staff, including executive producer Charles "Chic" Eglee, and plans to use freelance writers for the second season.[16] Kirkman called the announcement "premature" and clarified that Eglee left to pursue other projects when Darabont decided to stay on as showrunner and that no definitive plans had been made regarding the writing staff for season two.[17]

[In] the writers' room, there are people that have set up other projects that will be their first priority if their own series is picked up as a pilot or if it’s a series. I think [Eglee] just decided that he wants to run his own show." She revealed that it is likely the show will return in October 2011, as Darabont and Kirkman plan on mapping out the next season early in 2011. She also confirmed that "every one of the principal cast is signed up for multiple seasons."[18]

You're right Chaloobs, the episode was a bit off. I guess that's the dilemma of doing a pilot series. You have to wrap things up as if it's both a final ending while leaving room for a continuation...
Probably the AMC execs insisted on a neat package in the event they didn't want to pick up the series. I think if you compare the first episode to the last episode, there is a very noticable drop in story quality. That first episode seemed really well done with nice attention to detail.
Does anyone think they gave the partner too much of a free pass in the depcition of how he eneded up leaving his buddy in the hospital? Also, what about in the last episode when he was contemplating killing him in the woods? If you're going to hint he's a bit of a 'will murder my friend' type of guy, why give him the free pass?

Interesting. I wonder if the zombies in Walking Dead who are in more rural areas are eating crops, etc. So far we've only seen urban zombies and assumed they only eat flesh (human and horse), but that's simply because there's no vegetables to eat.

Definitely. Though I find all the interactions between Andrea and the Governor to be completely awkward as hell.
Still find Season 1 the best but Season 3 has some potential.
I found the episodes of season 1 a bit too random. Season 2 wasn't too bad even though like with almost everybody else it made Lori my favorite hate-character. The new season has a nice combination of things happening with an obviously longer arch also playing out.
