My county's broadband project is finally showing progress in my area. They've spent the last couple of hours burying optical fiber cable in front of our house. The days of tethering to my phone may soon be at an end.

I live in a house (built in 1968) that incorporated a Dairy Box into the stone walls. A separate or free-standing milk box harkened back to the Ice Man Cometh, or something like that, but if it was built into the house itself it probably seemed like a sign of wealth at the time?
Funny thing---the previous owner installed a heavy duty metal rod-lock on that milkbox, in case someone used that to reach double door bolts, or wiggle their skinny body into the attached garage, in order to rob the house? I still can't figure out what it means, because they also had a whole house motion detection security system in place.
Double funny (ironic) is they were a dry-cleaning family that still, to this day, will leave expensive suits and gowns hanging on client's front door knobs.

My son turns 19 yrs old on 9/19. It's a very special date in time---bringing exes and in-laws together for the first time in a long time.
I'm happy that autumn has begun....and it was cold enough to burn wood in the fireplace.
I'm also happy that my fireplace is an added comfort, but not a necessity.
American Express has a somewhat tucked away lounge for card holders at Universal Studios. AC, free food, water, and charging stations. One of the oddest perks I've discovered, but it sure was nice to find today.

Visit all/any "unusual" American museums first. They're just as weird, interesting, and illuminating..... without the added travel costs or international hassles.
I'm somewhat "happy" when comparing my life to people in other nations. But that's totally subjective.

So, I ordered a Surface Pro 3 on Saturday and was told that the official delivery time was 5 to 7 business days. The sales rep also told me, however, that she saw 3 business days on a regular basis.
Came home today at 4pm and found a UPS InfoNotice that they had been there at 1pm and would try again tomorrow. Since that would probably involve a time when I won't be home (tomorrow will see me at home at 1730h), I called the number and requested that I could get the delivery myself at a service point. Which would be tomorrow and on the other side of Hamburg.
Oh well.
One hour later the door bell rang and a UPS guy pressed a parcel into my hands - he had decided to try my address again

I'm "happy" to have conversations with my ex-husband, and our children, after the death of his second wife. It's a complicated situation, full of expectation and emotion.
I had a shit day but came home and was immediately cheered up by the cutest one and her delicious cooking. My mood vastly improved, I sat down to do some detectoring and finally after four years of being together I managed to figure out the date we actually met for the first time. We've only celebrated the date we actually decided to go steady (

Last sunday was flying back from Istanbul; was three hours early at the airport (hate the airline that made me do that) and ran into someone who I really have mixed feelings about. We sat down for coffee and a chat (mostly him talking about what a great time he'd had in Moscow and Minsk) and then time passed a lot faster than usual at an airport. 40 minutes before the flight I was like; well, I probably really should get to my gate and we said goodbye to eachother.
At emigration though there was this crowd of 400 people waiting to be checked by 2 officers. My plane would have been in Amsterdam by the time it was my turn. Luckily I knew they have this paid fast track option that nobody ever uses, AND I had cash on me to pay for it (which was important because they only accept cash). 30 turkish liras further I was back to waiting for boarding and being bored while doing so

Had an awesome weekend. On Friday I could visit the Omega and ETA factory. Then two wonderful sunny day with sunshine, Currywurst on Saturday and Bratwurst from the bonfire on Sunday
