Wasn't her giving her e-mail already an indication that you shouldn't expect a prompt reply? There are times that I don't check my email or Facebook for days in a row. If you want prompt replies these days you whatsapp.

Okay, thanks. Will wait it out.

There could be any number of reasons: she doesn't want to, she's not sure, she's nervous, she's forgotten, she hasn't checked her mail, she didn't get the facebook notification, she's seeing someone else, she's secretly a ghost, she's read about your catheter-related shenanigans and doesn't want to endanger your organs, etc. You've done your part and you should be both happy and proud about that next time you see her, try not to let the lack of response make the conversation worse than it needs to be. Everyone feels guilty about not getting back to people, and even if you don't go out on a date you can at least enjoy meeting a nice and familiar person.

Ps. I am rubbish at getting back to people if I don't reply to a message immediately there's a good chance I won't reply at all

That was about my conclusion as well. Just wanted some reassurance that this was the proper way to go about it.

    Thanks, again.

Also, one thing I've learned from a lifetime of overanalyzing and uncertainty is that sometimes the data's just so bad and the possibilities so many that it's intellectually irresponsible--and emotionally unwise --to analyze it and stake your wellbeing on that analysis. Def. don't write any more messages. Take the opportunity to do something nice for yourself, like eating a baumkuchen and rearranging your furniture

    Edit:sorry, didn't see your reply

Firstly, it's great that you asked her out, and it seems you did so at exactly the right time. It's always worth doing so whether dates result or not.

However, now that you have asked her out, in my experience, if people want to get in touch/respond, they will. Girls I've asked out who are keen, respond to emails/online messages/texts almost immediately and a date follows soon after. Girls who are not so keen either take a while to respond, and when they do it's a polite decline.

No response at all I do find very impolite though.

Also - I take it you weren't known to her on Facebook?
I'd find it a bit weird if I'd given my email address to a person who'd asked me out, only for them to pop up on my facebook page with a message (albeit in my case i'm only on facebook under a pseudonym). For me that's verging toward the creepy territory Loki referred to.

A little awkward too that you'll likely be bumping into her again at future events/courses. But the ball is firmly in her court, I'd not raise it again in any conversations you may have with her.

Regarding the Facebook thing: The e-mail protocol does not guarantee delivery, it's more of a best effort. One might say that my technical knowledge works against me in this case.

There's a possibility that she doesn't know who the hell you are, if it's based on emails or Facebook postings. Also, two days of "waiting" doesn't mean much, either.

If you're asking for advice, I'd suggest that you not let social media, or electronic apps, dictate your dating rituals, or love life. Those things are oriented toward speed, and immediate gratification. Be patient.

Great, once again useless "advice" from you. Thanks so much.

Did you even bother to think before you spouted this nonsensical drivel? "She doesn't know who I am?" Seriously? In which world does this make sense?

I mean, just think about this particular train of logic for once:

    1) I know her name and she knows mine
    2) I ask her out
    3) Just 2 hours afterwards I email her, using my real name, asking for a date she's comfortable with
    4) By then, she has completely forgotten that I asked her out and has also forgotten who I am.

Yeah, takes a kind of special logic to arrive at this conclusion.

She could suffer from amnesia, I guess

Just be normal and nice next time you see her, maybe it'll work out, maybe it won't, but that's my advice. Then again I'm single so maybe you shouldn't listen to me If you added her on Facebook you could possibly ask for the next thing she might be at "Hey, are you going to be there this time as well?" - and if you haven't, she probably has not seen your message there since it ends up in pretty much the spam folder of your messages there (I missed out a couple of free concert tickets I won that way, never noticed the message until a year later).

Worst case scenario she read in something like Cosmo she shouldn't reply and see how badly you want her (I kid you not, that magazine has crap advice for girls (crap for guys, that is), my ex read something not THAT dissimilar in there when we started dating). But on the balance I'd say don't send any more messages, better to seem maybe not that interested than to seem like a stalker.

Probably shouldn't be dating anyone who takes advice from Cosmo.

Unfortunately some cute girls do read that crap

On a side note, playboy gets all the crap for being sexist, too sexual, etc., but I find magazines like cosmo far, far more sexist, and at least as sexual (if not more).

Don't knock Cosmo bro, there's a good chance she's read about the grapefruit blowjob in there by now.

I just never learn... I decided to switch from CM11 to Lollipop and got the dumbass idea to use a factory image and somehow this process ended up taking fucking forEVER and worst of all I realised only after I'd wiped everything that my titanium backup hadn't been transferred properly and so I lost a hundred tabs I had in chrome

How the hell is having hundreds of tabs still serving any purpose.

I was trying to help, by reminding you that 2 hours is a crappy standard to judge affairs of the heart.

  17. #4367
The 2 hours referred to the amount of time before he emailed her. How's that relevant to either his point or your own?

Two hours for the first e-mail. 2 days before I messaged her once through Facebook. And two days later one last e-mail, ascertaining that this would be a last-try effort.

I don't see how this amounts to being neither "slow" nor "patient".

Just found out that my grandmother (95 years old) fell down and broke her 2nd cervical vertebra. She'll be undergoing surgery tomorrow.

Well, she's in good spirits, so we're optimistic.

Well, either you wouldn't want to meet her two years from now, or she's just a passing fancy. Your choice.

My grandmother is one hell of a tough cookie. The surgery went fine. Didn't even need to be placed in intensive care. As a matter of fact: She's already out and about, within reason, of course.

I had to root my tablet to increase storage for apps and proper functioning of chrome. Now hbo go refuses to work on it.

At work the system is so fucked that even simple tasks take forever.

Tried to check out Marco Polo on Netflix. Found out that the sound was of the sort where it was near impossible to hear what the hell they were saying. So I tried to turn on the subtitles. I stream Netflix through an apple TV (3rd gen) and turned on subtitles, selected language and even went as far as creating a style. No matter what I tried; I didn't get the subtitles on in any language. In the end I decided to try to change the language to German. So now I'm watching it dubbed in German. With clear dialogues and no sound track washing out the voices.

I never thought I'd ever say it but: long live German dubbing skills.

How is it? The few reviews I read demolished just about every aspect of it.

I have the very same problem with almost every US show. The dynamics are insane. The whisper, I turn up the volume, they start to shout. I turn it down. The whisper again, turn it up. Now SHOOTING BAAAM BAAAM.

Watching the same in German, I can perfectly enjoy any show without touching the remote even once. Now I am watching Breaking Bad in English with headphones, one hand on the volume control at any time.

So much about the dubbing sucks guys, take that you bunch of hipsters.

They are incredible good, when you watch TV in some other (e.g. eastern European) languages, you sometimes even hear the original behind the dubbed voices. And they only have like one male and one female speaker. Sometime not even that.

And the Eastern European dubbers only seem to have one kind of intonation - the monotone droning.

And while I do recognize the skills of our German dubbers, sometimes they really take it too far.
Remember the series "Heroes"? One of the initial plot devices was that Hiro only spoke Japanese and that he relied on his friend to translate into English. There was this episode where they met a waitress which was able to learn languages almost instantly.

Now, in the original version, we were treated to a conversation in two languages (with subtitles for the Japanese part). In the German version? Everything was dubbed relentlessly.
