Like I said in the beginning, I took the original 2 tweets as if the term "offensive" carries a heavier tone over there than it does over here. Largely because of the lack of a local outcry.
Clearly you haven't seen the previous instances where people were charged under this law. I.E. Saying that a celebrity should die is sufficient. As is insulting someone's religion or ethnicity.

and the outcome of those charges?

Heres some pretty numbers from '12 with plenty of quotes comparing their use of the term offensive to threatening and harassing. The same terms the US abuses.

Harassing people saying they should die offline is illegal too.

Only if you consider shouting something in a public park, where your target might or might not be, to be harassment.

Saying that someone "should die" is borderline to me. I think we should get rid of most of the offending is illegal laws, but I would still include threats. And to say that someone should die is very close the a threat.

It is not like "I will kill you" which should never be protected under free speech, but it's close to it. "You should die" is the cowards version of a death threat.

I think its pretty clear from his behavior on this forum that Loki may have an issue seeing online bullying/harassment to be comparable to its physical counter part. Its pointless trying to explain anything concerning the laws mentioned here without bridging that gap first.

It isn't the same, but that doesn't mean one is cool and the other bad. If death threats are covered by freedom of speech, how you do you want avoid blackmailing?

You seem to want to punish online behavior more stringently than you would physical behavior.

Only when it's done by people without even a tangental relation to "hacktivism."
Last night as I lay in bed, looking up at the stars, I thought, “Where the hell is my ceiling?"

Hacktivists should never be punished. Because they're cool and anonymous and stuff.

I hope you all die in your own vomit, choking for breath in the cesspool of your religion.

Does that mean the FBI will be knocking on my door, or the NSA will be monitoring my movements? Would I be on some "watch list" if I plan a vacation to Ottawa, Paris, Sydney, or Brussels?

Gosh, maybe I'll be "tracked" for going to a Lancaster County auction, since Amish students were gunned down in their schoolhouse! And I know some people who have guns, but don't hunt deer!

Not for posting it here. But if you would post that one someones Facebook wall, I am sure it would be investigated. At least of the person you wrote it to reports it.

Well, isn't that just stupid logic?

If I know that Facebook is being monitored because it's a large web site....maybe I'd post here instead, and hope I could get just one disenfranchised, isolated, angry young person, looking for a cause, to read a PM or click on a web site.

Somehow, taking a vacation has been complicated by nefarious intentions.

We don't use our real names here. I don't have to fear anything if you thread me here. I doubt you could ever find me.

You've missed the point I was trying to make. And I can't figure out a new way to make my point.

I assume you're trying to say that whatever people post doesn't matter, and web sites can't be held responsible for what people post. And that you don't have anything to fear, because you've never posted anything controversial.

So, I should have nothing to fear, right? I've not used my real name, and the webmaster or ISP wouldn't be compelled to reveal my location or identity, right?

The GOP leadership is meeting in Hershey, PA. If anything bad happens during that time, I wouldn't be surprised if the FBI knocked on my door....but I'd be disappointed if they did. Because that would mean they couldn't distinguish between rhetorical political speech and real threats.

    Choke on that.

    No. Your assumption is wrong.

    No, wrong again.

Yeah, if I say "I will kill you" you shouldn't be afraid as I don't know who you are.

Well it is actually maybe possible. I can embed a picture here that is hosted by my server and than I track all IPs, and than I have to find out which one is hers, and then I would be able to get her place down to about 10 km, but after that it gets hard.
