Yesterday I was chatting online with a friend of mine in Turkey. He told me something quite remarkable; almost on the moment that the tragedy in Mina took place he got a snapchat video from a person on Hadj. Unlike the many millions who move around on foot, this person was doing so in a car belonging to a Saudi VIP (I never heard the name of the owner). The video showed the area where the tragedy took place minutes later. What it also showed that the route the pelgrims were taking was blocked off to let the car the poster was in cross unhindered.

Later on I found out that this headline worthy fact was getting some traction on the website of a Turkish newspaper and in Lebanese papers. In other media only the NYT mentioned it in a passing remark in a background story. Nothing of the kind of coverage such a fact would deserve.

Looks like there's too much cloud cover to see tonight's LUNACY!

(Full moon, harvest moon, blood moon, lunar eclipse, plus something else I can't remember atm that won't happen for another thirteen years.)

Saw it turn reddish but not the cool colour you see in photographs, nor did we get to see the super-moon effect. Still worth getting up at 4 AM though

Yep clear night here and up at 3 with insomnia, so got to see it. Was more grey with just a tinge of red.

Wish I'd done it properly and gone outside with the camera, rather than just peering out of the window at it.

But all in all it was indeed celestially awesome.

Freaking murderers. And sexist judges and juries that consistently allow women off the hook in capital murder cases. I'm surprised one got through.

The ceiling? Oh, wait, the dishwasher was on the floor above the basement?

Did he who made the lamb make thee?

My kids flew to Chicago with their dad, and his girlfriend, for their cousin's wedding. Hard to explain why I'm sad for not being part of that, or why it 'messes' with my groove on so many levels. My ex thinks having his girlfriend is the problem, and my kids don't know what to think.

All I know is what I feel...and it hurts that I'm no longer part of their family, after the divorce, even though they tell me I'll always be "Family".

Another "mass casualty" event in the US. At a community college. From one person with a gun and lots of ammunition.

The community feels blindsided, assaulted. Nothing like that happens in small towns, or school environments, right? That kind of violence happens routinely in poor urban cities with gangs and stuff, but not in middle America, right?

I opened my tmobile account in Sept 2013 :/ After giving hackers 2 years to play around with my info the best they can offer me is 2 years of credit monitoring afterwards.

    Fuck Experian.

In a couple of hours a close friend is going to pay smugglers $1,300 in the hope that some time tonight they will get him over to a Greek island.

The Director of Children and Families for the state of Kansas attempted to threaten my job the other day. Even though it was her secretary that messed up the car reservation. Made me realize how burnt out I am over costumer service, and missed having the capability to kill people ;-(

Kansas is a quietly fucked up state, and doesn't get much attention from the national press. Sorry you have to deal with that as a veteran.

Come home to find my computer has been upgraded with the black log-on screen of death. There are as many solutions as there are grains of sand in Sahara and so far none of them have worked.

Mysteriously fucked up PC. Refreshing not possible. Smart backup turns out to be so smart it's dumb. Attempt to save data on usb led to rescue of all but the required data. Bookmarks and tabs lost from three browsers. Data retrieval currently in progress but likely to be corrupted. At best I may be able to retrieve Firefox data from two several weeks ago when sync Mysteriously stopped working. And why the fuck does Edge browser not have options for disabling auto download or "save as..."?!

Firefox profile couldn't be recovered. For some reason, nothing could be recovered via sync besides extensions. Maybe it has something to do with a recent update to FF's sync system. Not sure if I have any backups of bookmarks etc lying around somewhere that are reasonably up-to-date. Oddly enough, appdata folders etc were saved for every single account except for my own account. My own data wasn't copied to the USB, nor was it in the backup images or identifiable by data recovery tools.

Chrome sync worked just fine and since I'd been working in Chrome for the most part the last couple of weeks most of my most recent tabs and bookmarks could be recovered. I think.

This has been a very shitty experience from beginning to end. Why do I even have any technology in my life? Just one dumb problem after another. Even getting to the boot-menu was a pain in the ass because of course windows booted properly, but not properly enough to let me easily reboot to eg. the recovery. Attempts to repair the installation failed. No bad sectors could be identified. Resetting/refreshing with files intact didn't work. Resetting without saving files didn't work. Reinstalling turned out to be a much greater pain in the ass than expected because it turned out my windows product key was no longer accessible from my Microsoft store account because why would it be accessible after Microsoft updates its website?? Why indeed. Scheduled local backups didn't help well enough. Attempts to implement up-to-date online backups and syncing didn't help well enough. Ditto for copying to external storage and using data recovery software. God, I fucking hate computers.

And the Netherlands went from third place in the world cup to not qualifying for the european cup (even though it was the easiest ever to qualify for because they increased the number of teams).

On the bright side, Van Persie scored his 50th goal.. in the wrong goal

Today would be my wedding anniversary celebration, if the marriage hadn't ended in divorce. We got married on a beautiful autumn day, just like today, where the air was crisp and cold, and trees were changing their leaf colors from summer green to yellow, gold, or bright red, in anticipation of winter.

It wasn't just a nice season to have a marriage ceremony....it was a great metaphor for a relationship that could last over time, and all seasons, year after year.

I'm sad that my wedding date has become a mourning date, in the season I love best.

Tbh I always thought those rewards are silly anyway. What I find curious is in that article and the replies to it, they have no problem with a credit card company taking a slice from store owners etc (as long as they get a bit back in benefits) and think there's no benefit to cutting that.. yet the demographics makes me think that's the opposite of what they claim about taxes.

    My sympathies.

The words you shared were cold transactions that bring me to curse what you've done
