Default Did Political Correctness cost Liam Fee his life?

"She went on to say that she thought she had known what a gut wrenching feeling felt like "until that day".
Ms Smith added: "That's the only way I can explain how bad I felt at the time."
However, after contacting social services she felt she should not have bothered as they had suggested everyone had different parenting skills.
Mrs Smith said: "They told me that they would send a health visitor round, but the feeling I got after that call was that I shouldn't have bothered.
"I personally felt like they were maybe getting quite a few calls about them and this one was just another one on the list that was creating them more work.
"I know obviously that social workers do a great job, but I came away from that call thinking that I shouldn't have bothered."
A significant case review has begun."

So social workers in the case clearly failed. How badly did they fail?

"Doctors found Liam had suffered a ruptured heart from a blow or blows to his body. They also discovered double fractures of his thigh bone and arm. In total they counted more than 30 injuries on his body."

WT These two pieces of shit regularly beat this child. Regularly. It was learned they did an internet search "can you die from a broken bone" prior to this little boy's death. After KILLING this child they then forced another one of their children (who were also regularly beaten, caged and starved) to 'confess' to accidentally choking the child to death.

Now its clear these two deserve nothing less than to be slowly tortured to death, which won't happen but maybe there is hope they will be savagely beaten to death in prison. Probably not but one can dream. However I'm curious if the reason social services didn't do more was because this wasn't a normal heterosexual marriage. Did they back off over concerns of appearing anti-gay? I really have no clue about how things work in Scotland so I could be off base but that was my first instinct after reading this fucking awful story.

If it's anything like here, then the most likely reason is they've got a massive case-load and nowhere near enough people and time to investigate everything as thoroughly as things deserve.

Yet another inquiry being launched into the failings of social services which led to the death of a child in the UK. This is a more extreme example of such failings.

Past inquiries have indeed revealed overstretched councils and overworked social workers coupled with council mismanagement.

The answer to the question is "no". Your instincts would be more accurate if you bothered to pay attention to tragic failures of social services even when they can't easily be used to confirm your bizarre bias of the day.

Bingo. Political correctness did not steal this child's life but your committment to incorrectness, Lewk, is making a mockery of his death.

We get people like this at work all day long, they are generally wrong and giant asses to deal with. Not surprised at all that those quotes are what got Lewk's attention, how many times has he used such excuses around here?

Actually people's subconscious picks up on a lot that you may not be consciously aware of. That feeling in you gut isn't always indigestion.

But it also provides social workers desperately little to go on and as such frequently puts such reports beneath a large stack of ones where actual evidence was provided when they're trying to triage their overflowing tasks.

They boys were beaten, starved and tortured. A single visit where they actually kept their eyes open should have realized just how monstrous these two shit stains were.

Yeah, so? Did they get actual material to justify that visit over going to pick up and place the child whose doctor reported cigarette burns all over his back, trying to persuade a judge that the defense lawyer was wrong and he should not let the guy charged with pedophilia keep his two daughters until the trial, making three home visits among the at-risk kids whose already-cited parents are supposedly cleaning up their act, and meeting with an ADA about the foster parents who had a child die under suspicious circumstances? And that's not even touching on the paperwork generated by even a single one of those tasks, that'll probably have to wait until the social-worker can take it home and work on it because now they have to go back to the hospital because the police just brought in two homeless kids, one of whom is alleged to have tried to murder the other, and they need the department to establish guadians ad litem for both, get a child-advocate for the accused, etc. Oh yeah, and the altercation was over this other homeless kid who seems to have OD'd, they'll need someone to make medical decisions for them if they survive.

Any proof of or measurable record for this claim?

You know, other than your own gut feeling?

Yes there is ample scientific evidence for that. It is the basis for such concepts described as "mothers intuition" and so on.

Doesn't change the fact that the Council rightly needs more than just someone reporting a gut instinct to rip a family apart.

Yes, in a similar vain of economists predicting the last 11 of 7 crises.

Not about ripping a family apart without evidence, it is about investigating when concerned people call in to make a report.
