Thread: What's messing with your Groove?

Sorry OG. One year anniversary losses are especially hard for some reason. Perhaps the firsts of everything from birthdays to holidays to seasons are like a slap to a new reality. Does it seem like a full year to you? Did time drag or move super fast?

    Take care OG.

    And I agree with camelface.
I could have had class. I could have been a contender.

Gogodaddypop gets to look at breasts at work. Would they be bare, or all covered up and "proper?"

And the boss looks at porn with you.

    Well done!

    What part is difficult, though?

I am the boss, I do whatever I want whenever I want to.

    No, wait.

I work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and get no fucking appreciation at all.

Quit whining, you all have it easy.

Gogodaddypop is the only one I have sympathy for at all.

Father gets harsher punishment than daughter's 'rapist' after punching attacker

    Article:

THE father of a teenage sex assault victim in New South Wales who punched one of his daughter's attackers has been given a longer good behaviour bond than two of her alleged rapists.
The Daily Telegraph reports that under a controversial plea deal that reduced the charges from rape to aggravated indecent assault, two young country footballers were given 18-month bonds for their part in the horrifying attack of the then 15-year-old girl.
They walked free from court. Two other accused are awaiting sentencing.
No one in the case can be identified.
Now 17, the victim has clear memories of a night that will forever haunt her.
"I couldn't move," she said of the horrifying sexual assault by four teenage boys in 2008 after a football awards ceremony in a NSW country town.
"When I started crying, (one of the attackers) said, 'What are you crying for, you sook?', or, 'Why are you crying, you sook?'"
Remarkably, her father is on a two-year bond for common assault after punching one of the accused.
The girl and her father both said they had felt pressured to agree to the plea deal - including an agreed statement of facts very different to the girl's initial police statement.
"They pressured us. They told us . . . they have barristers, they will really barrage you, the chances are you will lose the case," her father said.
"They wore us down to accept the plea. They walked out of that court free as birds."
The 17-year-old's four attackers each pleaded guilty to aggravated indecent assault after prosecutors drew up the statement.
Part of the assault on the then 15-year-old, who was almost passed out drunk, was recorded by video on a mobile phone.
She was unknowingly stripped naked and attacked in a bathroom by two of the teenagers.
The agreed statement focused on how much alcohol the victim had consumed and referred to the attack as "sexual activity".
Yesterday the girl, who had to move from her own town because one of the attackers attended her school, said she was changed by the attack.
"I used to be so happy-go-lucky, I am just so depressed," she said.
Karen Willis from the NSW Rape Crisis Centre said the DPP should appeal against the good behaviour bonds.
Howard Brown from the Victims of Crime Assistance League said plea deals agreed to by the DPP were undermining the justice system.
"If they don't face the charges for what they have done, how do you call it a justice system?" Mr Brown said.

The AEX has been stagnant for weeks. But today, the first day after my wonderful 'savings plan' matured it jumped up 1%. I'll get a calculation of the results soon, I seriously doubt I will get more out of in than what went in. There is a slight chance that I'll break even. The money went into a tracker fund, and even though it's not that much money, it tought me a lot about how to (not) trust in banks and know that investments in the stock exchange even in a medium long term need not give you any positive results.
    Congratulations America

Mississippi is putting an abortion ban on the ballot in 2011.

Abortion opponents collected enough signatures to put the proposal on next year's ballot. Voters will be asked to support whether unborn fetuses should be given human rights in the state's constitution.

A similar proposal is going before Colorado voters this fall. If the proposals pass, opponents say they would conflict with a woman's constitutional right to an abortion.

Mississippi already has one of the nation's toughest abortion laws. It requires the consent of both parents for minors, a 24-hour waiting period and counseling before all abortions.
    What a bunch of shit.

The new schedule is made every Friday at work. The thing annoying me tonight is that I called to find out if and when I'm scheduled to work this week and after a full minute, no one answered. At the moment, I'm not sure which will annoy me more when someone finally answers, that they took so long to answer or that I'll probably not have set hours once again this week. I've worked two days in the last three weeks and have pretty much had it with this part-time job becoming an "every now and again" job.

I'd say I'm more likely to get hit by a passing car considering the lack of sidewalks and a growing tendency of people to drive off the side of the roads due to playing with their cell phones.

  20. #560
I have to recommend against getting hit by motor vehicles. Maybe cars hurt less than large trucks, though.
We're stuck in a bloody snowglobe.

  21. #561
Probably, but there's a rather large portion of the population who drive log trucks or haul some other kind of load and I'd rather not risk getting hit by them either.

Edit: Good thing is that I'm on the schedule, but once again, they ignore my class schedule and give me hours that would make me work through my class. How difficult is it to remember your only part-time employee has class at 6pm on Monday nights? Seriously? This is the fourth time they've done this in two months.

So the arborist comes out as scheduled, to see this big fucking tree that fell over in my back yard. He says it was hit by lightning at some point (yeah, like when my computer had a lightning strike), was weakened by that and fell by its roots after the wet winter snow.

Will take over 5 hours and cost about $1,000 to cut the fucking thing up and mess with the 6 foot root ball. Did I contact my insurance company, he asks? Yeah, right after the ice damming damage, I said. NOT. My deductible would pay for both, not gonna get into that mess of making a claim just to see my premiums rise.

Neighbor guy came over, to tell us how his whole arborvitae hedge is splayed and needs to be replaced, spanning his whole back yard. He offered to pay for my tree if I paid for his hedge. ha ha.

    Are we having fun yet?

This is the video wikileaks got all weird over a few days ago. 40 minutes long (perhaps the longest video I've ever watched completely on Youtube).

Wikileaks has obtained and decrypted this previously unreleased video footage from a US Apache helicopter in 2007. It shows Reuters journalist Namir Noor-Eldeen, driver Saeed Chmagh, and several others as the Apache shoots and kills them in a public square in Eastern Baghdad. They are apparently assumed to be insurgents. After the initial shooting, an unarmed group of adults and children in a minivan arrives on the scene and attempts to transport the wounded. They are fired upon as well. The official statement on this incident initially listed all adults as insurgents and claimed the US military did not know how the deaths ocurred. Wikileaks released this video with transcripts and a package of supporting documents on April 5th 2010 on http://collateralmurder.com
I thought about trying to quote some of the more WTF captions, but that would involve half of the video . I understand how it must be hard to tell the difference between an RPG and a camera, but thats not the point here.
Our forces attacked a group of people using to little information, killed reporters because of their cameras, then attacked a van that came across the carnage a few minutes later because they were trying to help one of the reporters who managed to survive the first attack. A van without weapons, a van with kids, kids who's death was written off with a "shouldn't have brought their kids to a battle". Then the US military lied about it all.

Why mess with a good thing
In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

They patted each other on the back for killing people who couldn't shoot back, and then laughed when a corpse got driven over?
That is F***ing unbelievable, are they totally heartless?

The video is all over Digg and Reddit, no surprise there, but I was surprised to see it on the front page of Slashdot.

I was more put off by the gunner egging the first survivor to crawl to a weapon, so he could unload on him again. The bloodlust is unbelievable.

It's drilled into them from day one. they're also supposed to have trained on target identification. seems those lessons didn't stick.

It doesn't help that the Pentagon considers wikileaks a threat, and that they drafted a report on different ways, and reasons, to get rid of the site.

They've been trying the same thing with Al jazeera ever since the Iraq war started and they had the balls to talk about what was really going down.

If this story doesn't get aired tonight, then I will be beyond angry.
