As has been repeatedly stated through this thread blocking a road in a protest without having previously got a permit (which allows traffic to be re-routed around the protest rather than simply stopped like this was) is typically illegal. The Police cleared the traffic obstruction as they are legally required to do here. When even the ACLU advises against your actions maybe you've gone too far right?Do I need to get a permit?
You might. Because of concerns like obstruction of traffic and maintenance of public order, many localities require a permit to hold a parade or a march. Check with your local government.
