You would think they would have a policy about not letting so many high-ups travel together. Or maybe they just have crummier official plane service. But that's a truly massive loss, presumably it won't be too destabilizing.
The article said that the plane was 20-year-old Tupolev Tu-154. Crummy's as good a word as any.

Hardly, and if it was they downed the wrong plane. The people who died didn't really hold too much actual power. Also new presidential elections have already been announced.

Did you forget that Russia doesn't have any grievances with Poland likely to result in war?
Did you forget that Poland has a far larger and more capable military than Georgia, featuring hundreds of tanks including the modern Leopold 2?
Did you forget that Poland is a member of the European Union?
Did you forget that it was a member of NATO?
Did you forget that blowing up this plane basically serves no useful military purpose as a prelude to invasion, apart from maybe putting Polish security forces on high alert?
