RB, the silliness of his response is far more than that. The vast majority of CIA officers don't carry out clandestine activities. They're analysts, support staff, tech staff, etc. Even in the directorate of operations most people are not directly involved in going overseas to acquire HUMINT or SIGINT using some sort of cover identity. Even if we did need Jack Ryan or James Bond on occasion, it would be a vanishingly small part of the tens of thousands of people who work for the CIA.

More relevant is that the CIA actually needs a diverse workforce so their analysts have the requisite language and cultural training to be able to contextualize data. The minor heart attack by some talking heads about the CIA using an (admittedly slightly cringey) ad to recruit for a younger generation is just the day's silly noise.
