Well, that *is* the best argument I've heard for our current fiscal policy... and it is an improvement over their last argument (agree with Obama, or you're a racist), so they do deserve a little credit. Perhaps a slightly faster death when they bankrupt the country and the revolution comes.

It's very cute of you to push shows like Boston Public, but that avenue is almost as dead as Bela Lugosi. Definitely too subtle, because you actually CAN see OG saying that.

Yeah, it's not a problem I have often - being too subtle - but I'm at a loss to think of a bat-shit-crazy hard leftie thing you CAN'T see OG saying. <sigh>

No dear, those are the voices in your head. Remember what we talked about those? No, don't shove the pencil in your arm dear. That's right, you don't have to listen to the voices. No, even when they talk about the pencils. Or the liberals.

No dear it's okay you don't have to chew on the curtains the liberals can't get you here.

The vast majority of my high school class consists of left wingers and semi-employed socialists, so on the contrary environment actually does matter.

That's hardly a double-blind study. And it they're "semi-employed", they ostensibly have very little money, which means they are utterly impotent when it comes to influencing Murikan society or politics. So what's the big deal?

The thing is that Dread believes in the fallacy that if you don't fight all wrongs, you might just as well not bother fighting any at all.

I on the other hand think that it's worthwhile to expose the TPP crowd as suspiciously racist, while not reminding people all the time of the fact that I think that black people should shut the fuck up about slavery as a 'white thing' because it weren't really white people that supplied the market and that for that reason I think they are talking out of their backside when they claim the moral high ground.

I am sort of aware of the futility of repeating all my thoughts all the time.
    Congratulations America

I'm not sure I follow/agree with your first point.

I should note that I don't think it's bad to point out racism at tea party rallies. But I think the media emphasis/hand-wringing on this issue has tarred all grassroots opposition to Obama and our massive over-spending as racist. Every conversation about what Obama is doing wrong suddenly has to be caveated with obvious and useless platitudes, EG, "His achievement is so great for our country, but..." to avoid the masses from jumping town your throat.

I think you're charging at windmills. I think you want to be the victim of bad media so badly you'll jump at any mention of the word "racism" to shout: See!? Just when you said you don't think it's bad when racism is pointed out, you use that same pointing out to show how awful the media is.

No shit sherlock. I gave you the option of staying on topic and trying to defend these "over the top" speeches, or to follow the tangent. You took the tangent because you have no argument for the other path.
So because some idiots may have said something to someone in a wheelchair, we should keep borrowing unsustainable amounts of money? It's an immature way to engage in politics,
Whats immature is thinking these two have anything to do with each other, as Hazir pointed out. Even the most insane groups of people have a worthy goal once in a while.

The Tea Party has an image problem and its not like its a new media created image problem. The racism, better-than-thou, image has been there since the beginning.

What the Tea Party is unable, or unwilling to do, is to correct that image. Not all the speakers preach hate, I'll give you that. They do have a tendency to incite their followers however. Thats their job. The problem is that there is no clear path. Crowd turns towards homophobia, the organizers/speakers say nothing. Crowd turns towards racism, scream "Nigger!" on capital hill; the podium says nothing. The crowd starts throwing rocks through windows, cutting gas lines, what was the organized response to that?
You can sit here all you want and type as much as you want to claim the Tea Party is not racist, but you're not on the podium. So you have have as much weight on the subject as the people in the crowd screaming for violence, because (using your own words), you were not invited to the podium.

I'm not saying the tea baggers have to have a response to everything. The Republicans do a pretty damn good job of being seen as the party of family values, without having to remind us everytime one of them gets busted for destroying their marriage with a gay lover.
The do however need to make their party goals more clear. You telling me the speakers at these events don't see the hate? Ever?

Dread seems to be confusing the masses with the group of friends that don't think like him. Friends that sound more and more like a group of people who keep him in the loop so they can point and laugh, or have an argument with, without yelling at a mirror.

Don't worry OG, that's their tactic when they get stuck---they start calling people names and suggest everyone else is a dumb dolt. It is rather like middle school.

Since when did NY intelligentsia (or Dread's classmates and coworkers) become "the masses"?

So, that is justification for using unsupported hyperboles? From a guy complaining about the generalisations in the media?

Let me run that quote again: "Every conversation about what Obama is doing wrong suddenly has to be caveated with obvious and useless platitudes, EG, "His achievement is so great for our country, but..." to avoid the masses from jumping town your throat"

Shakespeare in his day didn't get as dramatic as this.

You know what's funny about that picture? There's a brown-skinned person right underneath the fucking sign. (His head's cut off - right between the 's' in "this" and the 'e' in "entire." OMG, THAT MEANS PEOPLE WHO HATE THE TEA PARTY SUPPORT CUTTING OFF THE HEADS OF BROWN-SKINNED FOLKS!!!!!!1111 )

Not to bring facts or anything into your little bash-fest, but come on. If you're gonna stage a "Tea Party is racist" photo-op, how hard is it to make sure you're not right in front of a black guy before you snap the shot? Well, it probably involves not being stoned, so probably pretty difficult for you and your ilk.

Yeah well, the Nazi's also had a bunch of followers in circles that didn't survive their first go at ruling a country, so what's your point?

Only if/when you're surrounded by 27 million of your home town's inhabitants.

Since I'm not expecting Dread to reply with anything new on the subject, as been the case since the last dozen times this subject has come up, I'm going to entertain this derail of yours.

You're claiming that the person I've circled, is more brown than the sign (much less a "black guy")? We know you suffer from a bad case of selective reading, but this is a whole new level for you.

Yeah, looks "brown"-skinned to me. Especially compared to the white person in the red shirt, to the right.

Or do Latinos and half-negros not count as people to racists like you?

Didn't answer the question, and I didn't call a female latino a "black guy"
Of course, lighting and digital camera exposure (you'll notice how the skin lightens as the body comes out of the shadowy areas), and tanning seem to be foreign concepts to you as well.

From the site you obviously didn't read, first fucking bullet point:
As of July 1, 2008, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, the population of the City of New York was 8,363,710, an increase of more than 355,000 persons or 4.4 percent since April 2000.

It's sad when liberals are so racist that they can't see brown-skinned folks, even in a blown-up picture, with the brown skin circled.

When will you bigots learn to accept people, regardless of the color of their skin, and let the healing begin?
