Just make sure you have the right room... you don't wanna be whacking it to her brother's sleeping form in the thermal scope, because that would be creepy.

I don't stalk her... I think all I have to do now is ask her to go someplace on Friday and advance from there. She already gave me her number, took an interest in me, and I've been over her house within the first week of talking to her

Maybe you should reply to my comments. Anyways, reported for obvious trolling.

This was a three day ban? I only noticed last night. LOL Thank God for AP Exams.

In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

BJ, did you just link to an ELO song?!?! Gack. I just threw up in my mouth a little. My first concert was the Time tour, and the little robot broke down on stage. Hilarious! True Spinal Tap moment, and I never went back (OK, not because of the robot, but because ELO was, well, lame?)

So is he gone permanently? Or is it 5 days or something?

I expressed myself poorly, and I can prove it. I posted the same video as you, but a day earlier!

    I always loved that song.

You see, mid-career ELO was great, though the violins occasionally come across as saccharine. But the story I related, the Time tour, was scarring. That was a bad record, and those that followed were worse. So that's the memory led to the "throw up in my mouth" comment. Many 70s rock bands took a bad turn in the 80s. ELO's turn was much worse than most, IMO. And that's saying something, when you consider what Foreigner, Styx, REO and friends did in the 80s. Blech. All were solid 70s rock bands, though maybe not as good as ELO. So ELO fell the furthest.

It was the first concert I ever went to, and I specifically remember the robot breaking down. A robot! R2-D2! It rolled out out stage, stuttered to a stop, and then roadies had to run out and fix it. It was straight out of the as-yet unmade Spinal Tap, and it was absolutely hilarious (not quite as stupid as the giant fire-breathing godzilla behind the drumkit for Blue Oyster Cult, but the fact that it broke down and roadies had to drag it off made it perfectly awful.)

Funny, I found this link, with a picture of the dumbass robot. But I can tell you that the robot broke down on October 29, 1981. Maybe it also did in Chicago, as this site notes, but it definitely happened in the Checkerdome in STL!

Also, check this clip that has the robot:

But hey, mid ELO was great 70s rock. There are about 15 songs that I would enjoy on any given day. And Jeff Lynne ended up being a good producer. Not for everybody, but a very distinctive sound.

Well, I love ELO. All of it. I think I have eveything they've done. Including a bunch of "previously unreleased stuff". And their beginings as "The Move".

    Everbody has different tastes.

Sure. My take on ELO is consistent with my take on many good bands. Charming but kind of rough and ragged early on. An excellent middle stage where it all comes together, usually lasts 3-4 records. A lame later phase where they get involved in bombastic projects or just mail it in for the paycheck. ELO follows this trajectory quite nicely. Most bands do, if they live a full "lifespan."

I don't know anything about the robot or things like that, just listened to some of their music.

Plus Jeff Lynne in his later career with the Travelling Wilburys - one of the greatest groups of all time, just made up as a bit of a joke between legends: George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty.

Aye the Wilbury's was a shortlived grouping of talented very musicians that is still part of my music collection.

I found the Wilburys' first record good, but not great. Orbison was the really fun part. That was cool.
