Thread: What game are you playing now?

  1. #451
Well, reviews looking good for Red Dead Redemption
95 so far on Metacritic (20 reviews)

Pretty darn good, even with critics tendency to get overly starry-eyed with Rockstar games.

Seems to me like a GTA IV clone in a different (Olde West) setting... if you do end up getting it, and that's inaccurate, let me know...

    Sure..will do.
Any particular aspect you're interested in?
Many of the reviews seem to hint that it's better than GTA IV, some outright say it is.
Don't recall the exact statement, but one said to call it simply GTA on a horse, was doing the game an injustice..( or something like that)

Anyway, will make my own judgement and let ya know

Guess I'm most curious about whether it has much of an RPG element to it (and thus real replayability), or if it's "just" an Olde West action game.

Not sure whether I posted this before, but it has in game shots, and a lot of marketing talk:

The question for me really is: is the game geared towards you being the stalwart hero or do you really have the option to play a bastard without the game trying to screw you.

This is what I fear. I *hated* Gun. And it (Gun) looked so promising, sigh.

I'm curious about this as well.
Though Rockstar has always made playing a bastard viable..

I am here to remind everyone that Super Mario Galaxy 2 comes out this Sunday in the U.S, and If you don't buy a copy I will be very disappointed in you.
    I enjoy blank walls.

Get used to the feeling, buddy
In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

Finished Mother 3 today, it was pretty good but not as good as Earthbound. After I install Windows 7 Wednesday I'm going to pick up Just Cause 2 and get lost for awhile.

I went to pre-order it, but it turns out that it won't play on my PC. So, no sale. I'll just pick up the ROM in a couple weeks instead, I guess.

There is, but it's a disappointing read. Not nearly as good as you might expect.

Just finished playing Call of Juarez, it didn't suck.

Seriously doubt there is any replay value though.

D2D is selling Prince of Persia: Sands of Time for $1, so I'm going to order that once I can find a computer with access to game related websites.
Figured I'd play it a bit so I can point and laugh at the movie when that time comes.

You mention this a lot (and I forget if I've asked this before or not), but does your library really block SSH and RDP ports?

If so, consider Guacamole - not just a crappy tasting dip anymore!

Websense doesn't block secure connections, but I'm not going to connect to a proxy from work so I can type my credit card number into a blocked webpage. I used to have something like Guacamole setup a long while ago when I lived in a complex that included power in the rent, but I don't leave anything on, or even plugged in, if I'm not home using it now.
Machines are monitored for unapproved .exe files being executed (they really fucked up the launch of that), so thumbdrive stuff, like the Freedom Stick are pointless. County IT has also taken a liking to using the remote connection to peak in on machines .

I've got the keys to 13 laptops, and I monitor a floor of 38 dekstops that don't block game related stuff. Its not so much a hassle anymore as it is waiting till I get off the desk of another floor.

"Son," he said without preamble, "never trust a man who doesn't drink, because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. They're the judges, the meddlers. And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They're usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they're a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can't trust a man who's afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. The chances are that he is learning something about humility and his natural human foolishness, about how to survive himself. It's damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he's heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl.

Got the new red dead. I haven't gotten too far but my only complaint is the steering for the horses, how easy it is, and how difficult it is to read what the hell your buying. Other than that its definetly worth the buy...and its a bit suprisingly gruesome

Goddamnit! No one told me that Bioware already put out the Dragon Age expansion.
Last night as I lay in bed, looking up at the stars, I thought, “Where the hell is my ceiling?"
