Thread: What made you go WTF today?

I found out tonight that a friend's friendship depends on whether I fall into her line of thinking or not! I'm 46 years old and supposed to fall into line with what someone else thinks? Sorry GGT, but I ain't no body's patsy! I am me and that's that! You can live in your ivory tower but the rest of us live in the real world So sorry you are too good for me!
I don't have a problem with authority....I just don't like being told what to do!Remember, the toes you step on today may be attached to the ass you have to kiss tomorrow!RIP Fluffy! 01-07-09 I'm so sorry Fluffster! People who don't like cats were probably mice in an earlier life! Why is it only mentals think they live "in the real world"?
"Son," he said without preamble, "never trust a man who doesn't drink, because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. They're the judges, the meddlers. And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They're usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they're a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can't trust a man who's afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. The chances are that he is learning something about humility and his natural human foolishness, about how to survive himself. It's damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he's heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl.

NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Newton County Sheriff’s Office officials arrested two men Monday in connection with the sexual molestation of a pregnant 10-year-old girl.

Deputies told Channel 2 Action News they learned from workers with the Department of Family and Children Services that the 10-year-old girl had been molested for several years.

Police charged Danny Lee Arnold, 19, and his brother Thomas Marcus Arnold, 21, with child molestation, incest, cruelty to children and sexual battery. Thomas Arnold faced an additional charge of aggravated sodomy.

While investigating the case, GBI agents also arrested the aunt of the Arnold brothers, Lisa Arnold, on incest charges. Agents said they found evidence that she had sex with her two nephews.

The girl is now in the care of relatives. The three suspects are being held in the Fulton County Jail.

The Arnold brothers are expected to make their first court appearance Tuesday.
It just got even weirder than it was the first time I heard about it.

    It's so fucking sad, too.
We're stuck in a bloody snowglobe.

A Utah mom allegedly doctored a pornographic photo of a woman having sex with a dog, superimposing into the picture the face of a 13-year-old girl who attends middle school with her daughter.

Danette Stark, 37, appeared in court Monday to face 18 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Prosecutors said she created the image, put it into fliers and distributed them at Northwest Middle School in Salt Lake City.

Authorities said surveillance video showed Stark entering the seventh-grade bathroom at the school on the second to the last day of classes. A custodian found the fliers in the bathroom and contacted local authorities, Salt Lake County District Attorney Lohra Miller told FoxNews.com.

She said Stark admitted to making 30 fliers, but police recovered only 18 of them.

“If anyone sees copies of these they need to turn them over to police immediately,” Miller said. “If they distribute it, make copies or put on the Internet, they are committing a crime of distributing pornography under Utah law. “

Stark allegedly told police that she believed the unidentified girl “wronged” her in some way.

Stark has a daughter who is the same age as the girl. Attorney Steve Russell, who was standing in for her attorney, said he wouldn’t explain the relationship between the two teens, but he told the Deseret News, “I’m sure they know each other.”

Police say Stark found the photos on the Internet and placed the fliers, which included derogatory comments directed toward the girl, into several students’ lockers in addition to the bathroom.

Miller told FoxNews.com that this is the district's first case of social networking bullying, and they are trying to keep the 13-year-old girl’s identity as private as possible.

“She is traumatized by the event,” Miller said. “We are trying to keep her privacy protected as much as possible to help keep her life as normal as possible.”

Phone messages left for Stark and the Salt Lake City School District were not immediately returned. Stark’s attorney did not have an immediate comment.

I had the realization yesterday that If I joined the Air Force next year, I would end up fighting in a war that started when I was six.

Err, assuming you need to be 18 to join any army, what war started in '98?

Well, ok maybe I am a bit mental, on occasion!

I think the biggest problem is the other drugs have stopped working as well as they should. I have built up a huge tolerance to them. After all, I have been taking the vicodin since October of '08, and the Lyrica since December of '08.

One of the possible Russian Spies. I'm having a hard time coming to terms with the idea that at least some part of the James Bond movies may be true.

Spy or not, every chick has a facebook page.

That seems young to go to war (or don't they send you out until over 18?).

Anyway, as far as long lasting wars go we have you beat http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eighty_Years%27_War

That just goes to show that you dont know enough about your history. Never heard of the three hundred and thirty five years war? No surprise, your country pretty much forgot about it for 300 years anyway

Thats right, the indomitable Isles of Skilly held of the ravenous Dutch marauders for over 300 years.

My team was given an absurd and unrealistic goal at work. If we make the goal, we are minimally compensated compared to the reward for previous assignments like this. Economy is clearly going south again.

You're a funny dude. Some of us have been saying the recession may "technically" be over, but the economy still sucks and is very fragile. You talk about getting stimulus money back, expecting the private sector to pick up the slack, when that is still weak as hell because the consumer is still strapped and jittery.

But you only admit it when it comes to your personal job/experience? WTF

Welcome to the Middle East, where fiction trumps reality every time.

Probably the Cypriot judge rules on the basis of the idea that it's difficult to get off an island. Truth of course is that if you go to the north of Cyprus you can take a plane or boat to Turkey. That's because effectively the Cypriot government doesn't have jurisdiction over that part of the country .
    Congratulations America

Take a car to be inspected for the state. Including emissions. Change the oil, rotate the tires, fill fluids, put on a new wiper blade, replace a rear tail light bulb = $89. But can't pass the inspection because Check Engine light is on. Take it to a dealer, they say. They won't touch it.

Dealership says the O2 sensor is busted, something is wrong with the window wiper mechanism, the front brakes are marginal (they pass inspection standards but they won't put their stamp on it). To complete the work and get passed for inspection will be ~ $1,300.

It's an '03 Nissan with almost 200,000 miles. We already replaced the clutch, the front brakes, and two front tires (since then, rotated to the back). When I asked the service dude if he could talk to the sales dude about a trade-in with lower miles and a good warranty, he put me on hold for like half an hour. Came back to say I could talk to the sales manager.

Fuck. When they can't decide if they want money from service or sales, I don't know what the hell to think.

So, I asked the guy, if he were advising HIS MOTHER what would he advise? Long pause, silence. So I ask, if it were his car, what would he do? Longer silence. Then he demured, well, he couldn't really give advice from his end. He's just there to make a paycheck and well, he has to keep the dealership in mind as his employer. Yeah, sorry to put you in a bind that way.

But he did offer some cleaning and detail service or future oil change discounts if I just said "Do what it takes to pass inspection".

  22. #682
My god, how the hell did you put so much mileage on it? I was unhappy about the high mileage on the '02 Nissan I traded in - it had 89k miles on it.

Also, if the repairs are more than the car is worth, it isn't worth repairing.

It was a second hand car from a brother-in-law who used to drive from Pa/NJ to NYC every day to work. He took very good care of the car and kept it maintained, but cars have a half-life. It's not like the OLD DAYS where you could replace a transmission on a Chevy with fin tails and drive around Cuba.

You were always a smart poster. Good discusser as well as "debater". Minx showed a picture of you two a long time ago, it was sweet and you're both cute!

Also, this place needs some estrogen. These guys get really smelly after a while. Yes, trite has a scent.

Haha, I didn't know he'd finally decided to admit on here that we knew each other. He's the one I emailed to ask WTF happened to Atari and that's how I found the new forum.

I was just reading some of the Site Discussion posts... it's interesting to see how everyone is approaching the idea of self-governing... and you're tearing each other apart like only a family can.

  29. #689
Self-governing as in self-moderating moderators? Yes, we don't need no stinkin' moderator, but I also don't think this forum is a democracy. Just so small that no one seems to notice.

But don't put obscenities in titles? I stopped reading Site Discussion after its first week. Otherwise we can cuss like sailors.

No, definitely more of an oligarchy.
