Well hell, while I'm here and whining, may as well continue.
I didn't realize the anxiety building while my ex father-in-law was in town, staying with the ex and his soon-to-be-wife. But he's been just a mile away for over a week, and we haven't seen each other yet. He leaves on Thursday, and the ex decided we could cram in a meal before he goes.
It's just a really strange situation. George and I always had a really good relationship, but now it's like the ex is orchestrating what he thinks is best for his dad and soon-to-be-wife. The kids, as always, are in the middle, being twisted this way or that. I've tried to be accommodating and flexible, mostly hanging in the background and not saying a peep. This seems to be "the time" my ex has decided his dad will bond with his new daughter-in-law.
Just makes me sad he thinks that means ignoring the history George and I have, or our relationship that goes back several decades. I might even be a bit angry, truth be told. But anger never did much good.
