Thread: What's messing with your Groove?

In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

    My hamster's died

I just went to feed him but he's lying deadly still, keep hoping he's just sleeping, he does lie so still when he's sleeping I've thought he'd died in the past. But you can always see his chest moving and he jumps if you tap the cage where he's sleeping. Now he's just lying there and nothing, can't wake him up

Was just talking yesterday about a present I was going to buy him, picked it out months ago for when we move into our own home - called a "Hamtrac" it looked really cool, a scalectric-style racing track for a hamster in a ball. Just not enough space for it in the house we're renting. Our moving would have coincidentally been approximately his first birthday too

Spam was my first pet that was mine, didn't grow up with cats or dogs. Got him less than a year ago, then Amanda got her short-lived rabbit Tibbar. Now we've got no pets any more, haven't told her yet she's still at work

RIP Spam the Space Hamster. Aka Spammy, Spamuel L Jackson and Houdini - he escaped his cage on numerous occasions and always survived, even when we'd gone to Alton Towers for 2 days and he must have escaped immediately after we left (his food in the cage was untouched so he never reached it). The number of times he's panicked me that I'll find a dead hamster lying somewhere but just found him just sitting calmly in the kitchen, wanting to play hide and seek. Instead it seems he's now died calmly in his sleep at just under a years old.

Do I even wanna go here?

First off...RIP to your hamster, Rand!

I think I am leaving for Sturgis (Rally time again) tomorrow! (today?) But, The Friend won't give me a straight answer, so I dunno! (Fucking MEN!!!!)

Mommymunchkin went to visit her sisters for a week! BUT, when asked when/how she is gonna get home (The Kid's car is cooked ) she said she might hitchhike home!

Of course, like usual, The Kid is pissy with me again! I asked him if he wanted to go to Rally with The Friend and , and his answer is NOT permitted here!

My back is worse than ever, so ...of course...Dr. Tracy has left the clinic permantly!

So then, I call Pfizer to order my Lyrica. They will NOT ship drugs of any kind to a business...and I think I will be gone when they come in!

AND, I still ain't sure if my monitor is not supported by Windows 7, or what the fuck is happening here!

EDIT: Then too, Munchie was drunk before noon on Wednesday! (That gets harder on the body the older you get!)

Well fuck! It looks like the Rally trip might be not going to happen! The Friend's Mom fell this morning and broke her goddamned arm!! They are taking her to Scottsbluff to the orthopedic surgeon to see if she needs surgery on it! Of course, The Friend can't just take off and leave her! Hell, surgery is scary enough at any age, try it out when you are in your 70's! This just really fucked everything up! I guess it will all depend on what happens in Scottsbluff, but I am betting they will have to do surgery to even be able to set it. Of course, we might get lucky and all it needs is set and a cast. Even then, The Friend might not be able to take off with a clear conscience!

I hate children. I've never been sick so often in my life as I have being around my roommate's little germ farms.

Yes that is one unfortunate side effect of being around children, just be really mean to them and they won't come close enough to infect you.

Wow Munchkin, you always seem to have such an unfortunate life... I pity you, I really do.

I washed my mobile phone, what makes it even worse is that i was offered an upgrade but finished up my contract because i wasn't using it at all (to the point where £10 top up would last me a few months!). I have since acquired a Nokia N82 which will do until i've saved ones pennies and buy a new phone out right but i have to get it unlocked and for the love of god i have no idea where.

I miss my E71 Nokia, i liked my QWERTY keyboard.

My lady has an E71. It's a nice phone.

It done it's job rather well, the only downside is that it's not quite waterproof but it smells rather nice though.

They still sell locked phones there?

Have you tried drying it completely and recharging it? I once dropped a phone in the ocean (salt water is hardly good for it), and it worked after that.
Keep on keepin' the beat alive!

My mom dropped her phone in some dishwater 2 days ago. Dried it out overnight and its fine now.

Another Food Pantry day with mixed feelings. Between folks that didn't recognize whole garden vegetables, and "Christian" ladies sneering when someone couldn't speak English....then coming home to news images of Pakistan floods with desperate people hoping to grab a bag of rice....

Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow.....

The little girl on the corner house came over tonight to ask if we had any little kids she could play with. She was the sweetest little thing.
I showed her our little girl, only two months old, and asked her how she was. She said she was 5.
It was dusk at the time, so I looked over to see if her mom was in the front yard. She wasn't. I was a little concerned maybe the little girl was alone?
So I talked with her a little. She was looking for little kids to play with, even though she was going back to her dad's house in 3 days to start school again. She said she comes back here for summer because "my parents are fighting."

I felt so bad for her. Most of the kids on the block are preteens. I told her I wasn't sure where the kids lived.
Her mom and her boyfriend came out front a few minutes later, and she went back home. I heard her mom ask if she had met any kids yet. She said no.

Poor little thing. I might be a prude, but I did think it a little weird to let a 5yr old girl go look for friends, alone,at 7pm at night. Luckily our block is full of trusting people, but the next few streets are full of real characters, and I think there is someone on the offender registry nearby too.

    Anyway, she made me sad.

  19. #1309
You're not a prude, you sound like a concerned mama and good neighbor. Maybe next summer she'll knock on your door again, she probably liked that you took the time to talk with her.

Another 15 hour day. THis month may be a record breaker, but I am tired!

  21. #1311
Cat, there is always someone on the offender registry nearby. Always!

380 million eggs getting recalled is old news, but today I learned there is place called the "Egg Safety Center."

I know, Bitter. I actually have a friend on it (stupid circumstance, also took bad advice to plead no contest to something he didn't do due to the situation). So I try not to obsess. It's actually those not on the list yet I'd be more afraid of).

Today was K's 2 month appointment, complete with 3 shots! She screamed at the time, but was happy again after I fed her.
She's been all smiles until she woke up from her nap; the pain must have set in because she screamed for 15 min!
Nurse said to do hot compress but actually the cold compress is what calmed her down again.
So I think we will be cuddling for awhile.
    Poor baby

A work week shouldn't consist of 90+ hours.

  25. #1315
Awww, Cat! parents shouldn't be fighting and kids shouldn't be alone

Ate at a Sri Lankan restaurant nearby that we haven't been to before.

Several hours later, I'm loose but the other half is ejecting severely from both ends and is really upset and unwell.

Not sure what to do but tell her to keep drinking lots of water.

    ~

EDIT: She's now asked for a blanket so she can curl up next to the loo, in the fear that if she comes to bed to sleep it will all go wrong.

Oh dear, that sounds awful. If the toilet isn't too far from the bed, put layers of towels on the mattress so she doesn't have to sleep on the bathroom floor! And have a can handy for any puke.

The electricity here is run by the city, not a private company, and they want $400 for a deposit! I've never had a utilities deposit be more than $100 or so, this is just crazy. We just spent over $2k just to move here. Luckily the landlord said that they could keep the utilities in their name and we can just pay them until we're able to get the deposit.

It's now up to half a billion eggs. That's a helluvalotta bad eggs. They think it might be the type of Salmonella that is in the hen's ovaries, and inside the eggs.

    Thanks Gee.

Food poisoning. She was up all night.

Exhausted now but her system is finally clear.

Just been to the shop to get her baby wipes, natural greek yoghurt, and some girly mags to read on the sofa.

Had a wedding reception to attend tonight but we'll have to cancel. It's gonna be an indoors day.

I've never experienced food poisoning before. It's nasty.
