In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

Today's the day that I could, if I decided I wanted to, pay off my mortgage entirely. Any money I save as of today will really be my own, as are both houses
    Congratulations America

We made this today after dinner and homework. It was entertaining. Not a lot of creativity to it, granted, but the end results are cute-ish.

And they each have a paper kitty for their rooms.

My car hit 30,000 miles today. ^_^ That's a little under 10k a year. This car is going to last forever.

    Happy belated birthday Tim!

I had my first meeting with a mortgage advisor - it went better than i expected. I'm sure there will be some troublesome times ahead but at the moment it's all good!

    Congratulations Lor, exciting times ahead

Got my letter from the solicitor today detailing exact costs for when we complete next week. Booked a moving van, had a new home demonstration and house is getting full of boxes ...

I bet you have all of your belongings out of boxes before I do.

Well, maybe not. Next week is the kids' fall break and I am planning on putting them to work.

So your fall break is pretty much before fall officially starts?

Susan Boyle achieved her dreams---she sang with Elaine Page, performed for the Queen, and now the Pope.

Last week I got, as a relation, an invite to a pretty awesome party celebrating the 15 year anniversary of a pop magazine and a radio station. A bunch of cool bands and DJs in a club in Amsterdam. Normal price is €15 + membership, I'd get in for free plus some extra stuff before the doors open. All I have to do is reply on that email to get on the guest list.

Problem is, this email is linked to a login on the network at the office of the organization. It has to be renewed every year, as a part of the security (and to keep people who have a log in but are no longer active out of our files). To renew it you have to physically log on to the network in the office. My login expired this weekend, which means I cannot access the email and get in touch to get my name on the guest list. And I have to reply before tomorrow noon, and it won't be easy to drop by that office before noon...

edit: and these bands are playing

Seems Scarlett has made the transition from crawling to walking tonight. She was making an active effort to stand and walk from point to point instead of crawling. I've got a family gathering next week, so this is perfect timing
