Heh... back then I would have mercilessly laughed at anyone who could only name this Nirvana song, but...

It does, however, give me a fantastic costume idea for my daughter. Not that she'll go for it or anything like that.

S'pose that was a song and video about fishing, but I didn't really get it. Cool looking bike though.

And in the category of best vocalists under 10:

This came on the radio on the way home, I've heard it before but never knew the name or who it was, so I noticed the time so I could look it up on the radio station's website.

So much easier now than when I was young and the only way you found out who a song was by was if you were lucky enough that it was the last or first song of a set on the radio or you had a friend who had heard it, too.

For years I thought that was Jackson Browne, then also heard it back-announced on the Radio. Yeah, the "horse with no name" and "tinman" guys. Apparently I actually saw them when I was a little kid (my parents would take me along to some shows).

Ow, somehow I failed to see this thread till now. Anyway I start with my favorite of the Swiss German classics:
"Wer Visionen hat, sollte zum Arzt gehen." - Helmut Schmidt

    And the original

Some might recognize that from the Peugeot commercial:

I've heard this a lot, coming from the other end of the house. Does that mean something?

This one too. Not quite what I think Pixies would sound like. But I do wonder...where is my mind?

    Also, THIS is Purple Rain.

    Two years before the Doors:

For this last one, check out the backing guitar starting at 2:15 up until the outro (trun volume up), especially the chord voicing at the end of the run. This is why people consider consider George Harrison a genius. And imagine, in the remastered White Album they put that track lower in the mix. Fucking morons.

This is, by the way, why music needs to be heard with headphones or in a good live venue to really appreciate. Ear buds just don't do it justice.

How very relevant in the US today.

    Lunatic fringe
    I know you're out there
    You're in hiding
    And you hold your meetings

    We can hear you coming
    We know what you're after
We're wise to you this time
We won't let you kill the laughter.

    Lunatic fringe
    In the twilight's last gleaming
    This is open season
But you won't get too far

We know you've got to blame someone
    For your own confusion
But we're on guard this time
    Against your final solution

    We can hear you coming
    (We can hear you coming)

No you're not going to win this time
    We can hear the footsteps
    (We can hear the footsteps)
    Way out along the walkway

    Lunatic fringe
    We know you're out there
But in these new dark ages
    There will still be light

    An eye for an eye;
    Well before you go under...
    Can you feel the resistance?
    Can you feel the thunder?

Noteworthy for a couple of reasons. Nice tight production, but not the typically sterile sound of much 80s rock. Also, absolutely gorgeous pedal steel work, very rarely heard outside of country.
