You're seriously comparing national budgets and deficits to electricity? For someone who constantly rails about John Q. Public being idiots, you're not doing your political/academic standing much good.

Pretty much everyone in the US knows that we not only over-use electricity (all energy), but that there are ways to be more efficient and use less. Insulation and window technology to reduce energy loss, programmable thermostats, certain types of light bulbs, using sunlight for its lighting and heat absorption, situating buildings to exploit the sun, planting trees for cooling shade....on and on.

Google did that with their entire corporate HQ, experimenting with cyclical, self-sustained, alternative electricity, and relying less on "buying" or importing electricity. Are you going to criticize that, too?
