It still stuns me that the west conducted so many nuclear test blasts. 40 from the French alone!

I may not have the best job, but I definitely have an awesome job

In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.

I may not be a veterinarian, but I'm pretty sure that hammer, screwdriver and pliers are not the proper tools to dissect a horse's head?

I understand that the aforementioned object is merely one of a number of severed heads in the the possession of the Dept. of Physics at the University of Helsinki. They keep them in the fridge, and mutilate them using, quote, "iron spikes and screw drivers". They intend to use them to build a "masticating robot".

Everything I just wrote is 100% literally true.

This would be 100% more awesome if they mutilated them using ion spikes and mass drivers.

I'm not sure what the current %age of awesomeness they're operating at, but readings on the "chilling" scales are off the chart.

Proper according to which metric? So long as the animal in question is dead, no one cares from a legislative point of view, and the spiritual one has little place on the campus of natural science.

By the professional metric, having been around people who had to dissect stuff on a regular basis

I'd have expected at least a scalpel, given that those are sharp.

Well, our need was fairly singular, and there was no reason to preserve anything else of the head. A scalpel was used on soft tissue, as well as hunting knives etc., but the most labourious part was removal of the bone.

My Mom gave me this ugly little bulb in a planter for Mother's Day. Since then, it has grown to about a foot tall, and has put on these pretty blossoms!

I did! I gave her a real cell phone that she can hear and actually use. She also gives me something, although I have no idea why. She just always has since The Kid was born.

Well grandchildren are probably the greatest gift you can give your parents, so I understand. Oh... now I feel guilty for disappointing my parents

Some photos from Sunday, a small hicke (2 -3 hours) at the Walensee. (Lake Walen). A good hiking region for me, only a half an hour to an hour driving distance. Unfortunately always also crowded on weekends.

The Seerenbachfalls, middle and lower fall, the middle fall is with 305m the tallest single fall in Switzerland (but not the tallest cascade)
