Any way to legally get a Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit OEM DVD
Only just noticed (stupid me) that my OS is 32 bit. I've thought since I installed this that it was 64 bit. Stupid me
Anyway, the install disk I have is 32 bit and I believe it is legal and possible to format the machine and install a 64 bit edition with the same licence key, but you need the 64 bit DVD. Which I do not have.
Any way to legally get this without forking out for a new licence.

I'm curious what sort of software you ran across that's pushing a need for 64bit all of a sudden

OG is absolutely correct. No way to do it legally for free, but as a "normal" user, there's absolutely no difference between 32 bit and 64 bit, unless you're using CS5 (and up) Adobe products... in which case, you're a pirate already, or stupidly paid >=$1000 for photo and video editing capabilities.
Of course, I'm a technically well-versed individual who has no ethical issues in violating ridiculous 18th century legal statutes, should that be the solution of last resort, though I'd suggest that you'd be wise to lay out your technical requirements here, as I find it exceedingly unlikely that there isn't a free, legal solution to whatever your actual issue may be.
No reason to either lose a chunk of money you don't have to or go pirate unless you absolutely have to... and, come to think of it, I'm pretty sure I have an extra 64 bit Vista Ultimate key, if, for some crazy reason, you must go 64 bit on Microsoft's new platform. Either way, mentioning it here in a form I can access while less intoxicated is probably a wise course of action.

I have 4GB of RAM installed (plus a good graphics card), but its now showing only 2.00 GB of RAM as usable.
The Witcher is going slowly at points which is why i looked at it.
Even with 32-bit, you should be showing about 3.25 GB of RAM as usable. Problem with your RAM?
Isn't downloading the installation of Windows legal,a s long as you have the key? IIRC you can even download it from their website, but I could be wrong there. Either way, my windows copy was downloaded 'illegally' but I have a legal key, so my copy is genuine.

Yeah, I downloaded mine from Digital River (which I think is owned by Microsoft), then I used the product key from the package I left at my parents' house.
But now I have a free copy of W7 Professional from my college's subscription to MSDNAA.

Clicked the download Home Premium 64 bit link and its currently downloading through Firefox at 2MB/second- No need to enter any registration data or anything, it just downloads.

I've always upgraded my computer and OS at the same time, never really just updated the OS. I do have W7 64-bit. I was curious if in Rand's case suppose he reformats his computer and installs a new W7- 64 bit, could the then go and use his Windows 7 32-bit on a different computer? Maybe sell it to a relative or friend or give it them? So it's not "wasted"? And if not what if I buy a brand new computer (build one), can I not use my old OS, and OS key, from the comp I'm replacing? '
I understand this would make it hard for them to figure out when you're using a key once for your use, and when your using the same key twice (once for you and once for someone else). Perhaps they could check during updates that only one computer with that key is receiving updates. idk.
