Thunder Mountain is badass. Sucks that they've nerfed the haunted mansion in recent years.
Animal Kingdom wasn't overly impressive. The tree, the dinosaur ride, and possibly the coaster in the back. Otherwise it felt to much like a Busch Gardens ripoff.
been wanting to take Scarlett to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, but its like $50+ a ticket for only a couple of hours, and I doubt Scarlett would experience any of it before passing out.

I had a really good time as an adult myself, but ya, we were with my husband's cousin and his three-yr-old (back in '08) and he didn't last long. But hubby and I stayed in the park until nearly 11They let the adults have candy too, but I don't think the adults were allowed to wear costumes. The fireworks and parade were frickin' awesome too! But yes, the price is a bit high, considering that you can't attend the whole day with the party ticket. We were lucky that my husband's cousin is a Vacation Club member so we got a discount to begin with; and then my parents-in-law sprang for our Halloween party tickets as a birthday gift (hubby and I are both October babies, and happened to actually be at Disney during both our birthdays that week!)

6. He's a bit overwhelmed and wants to be carried everywhere. We've figured out that he can only handle a 4 hours at a time so we head back to the hotel, swim in the pool, rest a bit then head back.

Sounds like you are staying in one of the Disney hotels ("on the compound" as I like to tease). It makes it so much easier to go out to the parks for a few hours, go back to the hotel for pool/nap, and then back out again! If I ever get out there again (and hope to in a few years) I'm gonna definitely book one of their hotels! I'm really interested in the new one they are building, I think it is called the Art of Animation Resort if I remember right....
I'm a long time fan of the grand floridian. Yeah, it takes less than an hour usually for me to get from here to Disney, but that resort is un-fucking-believable. Its like a park experience of its own.

I was lucky to stay at the Wilderness Lodge because of the husband's cousin's Vacation Club points. Hubby had stayed at Grand Floridian before when his father's company used to have retreats there. Just walking through it was lovely; I wish we could afford to stay there. We'll probably end up at one of the budget resorts if we do go in the next 5 years.
Is the wilderness lodge the one where you have giraffes outside your windows?

Think thats the Villas at Animal Kingdom.
Wilderness Lodge isn't that close to any theme parks, its got a swiss family sorta theme to it.
Veldan, if you guys have time, I strongly suggest Downtown Disney. The 4 story arcade has an admission charge, but most of the rest of it is an open air mall, mainly disney stores, and a very kickass LEGO store. Well worth the walk through.

Actually, OG, it's just a short boat ride to Magic Kingdom, and you can take a boat to Contemporary Resort and hop on the Monorail to MK or Epcot. I really really liked the theme and it's proximity to my favorite parks. If it wasn't so expensive I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.
I've stayed at the Beach Resort too (we switched hotels halfway through our vacation; not something I'd recommend, but hubby and I stayed longer than everyone else since it was our last vacation before planning for baby) and that one is just a short walk from Epcot or a boat ride to Hollywood Studios.
Downtown Disney is great, we went 3 out of the 6 evenings we were at Disney!
@Flixy-that would be kickass to stay there too. My only gripe is that the resort is close to Animal Kingdom but everything else is a 15 min bus ride away. Well, I guess that is a shallow complaint actually.
I meant being close enough to share exbihit space, like a giraffe pen. Disney was designed extremely well way back when, with everything being connected via boat or monorail. I remember the good old days of parking at a resort and riding the monorail over to avoid the parking fees

When I was a kid we stayed at a cheap hotel in Kissimee (sp?) and they would just have a small charter bus to take you to the transportation center parking lot. The downside of course was waiting for the bus, or having to leave the park at a certain time to catch the bus.But it was worth it not to pay any additional fees.
EDIT: Dammit now I want to go.
Awesome! My husband and I went there for our honeymoon 5 years ago, and we're actually going back really soon. We get there on Sunday.
An easier and more child-friendly place might be Hershey Park. Not too far from you, actually. Fun rides, a water park, a zoo. They're great at having rides and amusements for little tykes. Even botanical gardens and golfing for the adults, with an exceptional Spa. You can get a chocolate facial or whole body treatment.Originally Posted by Catgrrl

I went to Hershey as a kid, too.They've expanded alot since I was there in '89; I do remember the zoo part of it though.
Actually, We'll be taking K up to Busch Gardens Williamsburg in December for their Christmastown event. We only live an hour from the park. Have to introduce her to my "homepark" first.

I saw the Oscar-nominated movie Exit Through the Gift Shop last night. A movie about the underground world of street art and artists.
In the movie, a French film-maker (both the cameraman and the protagonist) follows Banksy on his travails. They come to Disney and, in broad daylight, Banksy clambers over fences to the side of the ride, inflates the Guantanamo doll, positions it by the fence, then legs it to the nearest toilets to change outfits, absolute anonymity being Banksy's watchword.
Meanwhile, half of Disney is shut-down, various rides are halted mid-flow, the film-maker is pounced on by a bunch of insidious plainclothes Disney security and dragged off to be interrogated. During the interrogation the film-maker sticks to a story of being an entirely innocent bystander. The security staff ask him to show them what is on his video-camera, so he picks it up, switches it on, and selects Delete-All. Now there is no proof of anything, and security are obliged to release him. Little did they know he'd already hidden a tape inside his socks which security failed to locate. So some footage of the stunt survived.
Banksy meanwhile escaped Disney entirely.

TAKE PICTURES AND GO ON RIDE WITH HIM. Although I am 17, I still remember all the rides my father rode with me and I cherish those memories. Make sure to photograph those glorious moments too! Nostalgia man. Nostalgia.
