Thread: We need some new material!

Default We need some new material!

Zombies, vampires, ghosts, wars, hero warriors, true love, family dysfunctions, power struggles, dreams, faith, lab creatures, space aliens, armageddon/end of the world/brave new world.....

this is the stuff of our human history, literature, mythology, games and entertainment. It's part of our scientific world and new inventions. Our banking, financial, and political worlds reflect the same. Even our educational systems are partially based on these things.

Live or Die. Adapt and be flexible, or become obsolete. Help yourself or expand your ideology to help others. yadayada

It's about time we had some new "themes", but I can't think of any readily acceptable ones. Can you? I'd link this thread to minx's TED talks, but that didn't seem to gain much traction.

Right, forgot to add self-depracating social humor.

Don't we need some NEW material?

Seriously. This is Bernie Taupin (look him up if you don't recognize his name) and William Shatner () from 19-fucking-78, playing around with Sir Elton John's voice and Bernie Taupin's lyrics and melodies.

Maybe it's gonna be a long, long time, before we get some New Material. Jeeze....

Why would you do that? How? You'd have an easier time connecting Carrot Top with Aishwarya Rai

Because your thread about TED talks (IMO) is the one thread that weaves all other threads together.

We spend/waste a lot of time talking on the peripheral edges, when the main questions can be boiled down to Doing the Right Thing. Then asking how doing the right thing has community or national impact. Circular reasoning has never been appreciated much on this forum, but plenty of "real life" dilemmas are, indeed, circular challenges.

Practical wisdom is a recurring theme in stories about heroic people.
