    Thanks

She had a cerebral infarction, paralyzed on one side, fluid is getting into her lungs, and oxygen levels in her blood are dropping. Doctors call it 'alarming' Going there tomorrow, kinda scared to be honest to see her like this because she can't talk (though she can nod). But given the circumstances I think it's better sooner than later to see her, and maybe say goodbye, and to be there for my mum.
Keep on keepin' the beat alive!

    Sorry to hear that, Flixy.

Do people think that Mr. Romney is an egoistical person who values personal prestige for winning the election, more than the responsibility the occupation has? Should he retreat upon facing that he hasn't got a complete grip on his own politics, and could hereby ruin the lives of very many? Is he an idiot or is he a talent? I'm scared of this election.
Tomorrow is like an empty canvas that extends endlessly, what should I sketch on it?

Non-egotists don't run for the presidency. Period.

And yes, if elected, Romney will invade Sweden and nuke Norway. Just for the heck of it. After he personally bayonets every baby in Finland.

Going through my files and I found my manual to Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. Inside of it was a receipt that I kept cause to me personally it showed the last known copy of the AO version of the game being sold in a US Best Buy. So I take a trip down memory lane and pull the receipt out. Its completely blank. The ink has totally faded away. Looks like regular printer paper again

and someone stole the Obama magnet off Brandy's car while at target. classy.

In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

Americans don't vote for people with such a defeatist attitude!

Americans also don't get booze for voting

The thermal print on thermal paper, like receipt tape, will fade with time, and will fade much faster in areas that have clear scotch tape over them. Learned this doing medical records, since a lot of older faxes, and modern EKG output is printed on thermal paper.

My division has had a re-org.

My boss has been eliminated and my team split up...I've been assigned to a new team and my support team to another...

So, I'm wondering what that means for what I do now.

Presumably they thought highly enough of you to keep you around in a completely different capacity, something that can't be said for your boss.

Well that would be flattering, but SOMEONE has to do what I do cause stuff don't fix itself.

Basicly, an new org chart came out, with notes saying, keep doing what you are doing until told otherwise.

Makes for a rough time...people are beginning to panic.

Very true, but based upon the facts on the ground, it would be a bad idea unless they hire someone from Operations who can translate user to techie and vice versa (like they did with me 4 years ago) to take over my position.

That does not sound like that is going to happen...there has been a practice of using vendors for this line of work from a certain different country that rhymes with Syndia.

As long as your skills are hard to replace, what's the problem?

Sorry to hear that your bomb-making skills are being outsourced to Syria.

The problem is that there was a purge of middle management (which if bloated should happen) but it now looks like I may be reporting to someone so far removed from the floor that they can't identify/understand what I do.

Just means I have to explain it, without using my typical IT haughtiNess to the them that I reserve for normal users.

That might be a pain. On the bright side, they might assume your job is harder than it is and believe you're irreplaceable.

World War Z trailer came out yesterday. Looks like a fun zombie flick, but it sure as fuck ain't no World War Z. The one thing the book spells out above all else is how the zombies don't run, but they flow like fucking water in the movie

The book is so good, I was hoping the movie would reflect that same style

Well I think this will help answer why we can't hide in buildings, behind walls, in dangerous areas, or on top of things out of reach.

So why can't I hide in my attic? Because eventually there will be so many zombies in the first floor of your house that want to eat you, that either the walls themselves will fail, and your attic will cave into the first floor, or there will be so many that they can walk up each other into your attic.

Getting bummed out about my healthcare prospects. Some is just basically age-related "normal" whining, but it's taken on new concerns as I hunt for comprehensive health insurance. I cancelled my previous 80/20 major medical coverage (actually, I let it lapse and didn't renew -- which might have been the wrong way to do it) while looking for a better plan. It just didn't seem right to pay $300/month for what was basically future in-patient hospital care....when most costs are outpatient driven. That would include cancer chemotherapy and anything else pushed to outpatient delivery, including Physical Therapy. None of my monthly premiums, year after year, translated into actual care.

But my joints have started failing faster than I can keep up with what I needed to "buy" in order to get care for them. I can't buy a new policy without disclosing joint pain, mobility problems, or treatments.....so I've been avoiding any type of radiology or therapy that would help me. It's a crazy and infuriating position. I applaud Obama's PPACA, but since it's not fully implemented with interstate exchanges, I'm still screwed.

Does PA have something similar to this: http://www.insurance.illinois.gov/ipxp ?
