That was an awesome game. I was so glad to see the hated Italians go down.

Hadn't the Italians become too irrelevant already to be hated?
    Congratulations America

Yeh, they were far from favourites. They're a bunch of old men.

I flipped on ESPN, thought I might watch a minute. It wasn't on, even though they are the only people who have been airing the World Cup besides the Spanish channel (sucks for anyone who doesn't have cable who might want to watch). So now my son is watching it in Spanish.

I did, however, find out that it is on a regular broadcast station, so I might switch. Or not, I'm not terribly interested.
We're stuck in a bloody snowglobe.

That was a quick goal. ABC is airing the USA vs Ghana game, lolli.

Yeah, I found it. The vuvuzela sound is less irritating on Univision.

    Penno!
"Son," he said without preamble, "never trust a man who doesn't drink, because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. They're the judges, the meddlers. And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They're usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they're a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can't trust a man who's afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. The chances are that he is learning something about humility and his natural human foolishness, about how to survive himself. It's damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he's heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl.

Ghana deserves to continue in the tournament - now the only African nation remaining.

Well done by the Amerikans though.

    20 minutes till kick off!

    I am SO FUCKING EXCITED
How do you expect to run with the wolves at night when you spend all day sparring with the puppies?

I guess it's now 10 minutes past kickoff.

I have to assume you ejaculated prematurely, though. You were way too excited to make it last.

    That's a rough start.

Useless USELESS CUNT of a referee

45 minutes and everything to play for though
How do you expect to run with the wolves at night when you spend all day sparring with the puppies?

useless FIFA more like, it's not always possible for a referee to be able to see everything >_<

Christ on a stick that was bad. Who knows what would have happened if the score had been 2-2. The English wouldn't have to all-out attack and be open to those counter.

    Video refs goddamnit
I could have had class. I could have been a contender.
I could have been somebody. Instead of a bum
    Which is what I am

    I aim at the stars

Exactly. But what can you say? It always goes against us. We had the Same in Euro 2004, some European ref dicked us the whole game, and rightly so, felt the abuse of our media.

    Feel like crap now

    Condolences England.

Bad luck on the missed goal, that would have changed the whole second half.
You still had a lot of good looks at it, just couldn't get the bounces, and Germany couldn't miss...just one of those days.

They were still beaten 4-1. You can't pin a defeat of that magnitude on one disallowed goal. I know there's a difference between 2-1 and 2-2, psychologically, but if they go to pieces every time things don't go their way, then they're hardly going to beat a team like, for example, Argentina.

When will FIFA finally realize that their fear of replays are unfounded? Oh, you're worried that it will waste time? Not as much time as the little girls crying every time they fall over.

    Also, go Argentina!

    From two years ago:

    hmm

Anyway, I predict the daring solution to the latest international tournament debacle will be as follows:

    1) Fire the manager.
    2) Change nothing else.
    3) Hope it all somehow comes together next time.
