Woohoo!
My hospital is the best hospital in Sweden, and, more specifically, best when it comes to stroke management among a host of other thingswe were best at stroke management last year too, and I feel like the stroke clinic is my home clinic more than any other so I'm like *bouncebounce*
Also, I stole chocolate and once again have free unlimited access to UpToDate. I am almost afraid to enjoy this morning too much considering the cosmic tendency to regress towards the mean when it comes to happiness

Stan is the man! And tomorrow we gonna watch the match of matches: Federer vs Nasal.

I'm not sure what thread to put this in. You'll have to forgive the randomness and if this makes no sense I'm a wreck.
At 11:05 this morning I was by my Greek grandfathers bedside at the hospital as he lost his battle and passed away. At 18:00 I find out I'm going to be a father. I do wish I had the opportunity to tell him, it was my biggest wish.
That's some serious emotional stuff. Welcome to adulthood? He was probably proud enough to be your grandfather, topped off by seeing you married, and all the familial/generational hope that entails.
It doesn't make your family's loss any easier, just a bit more tolerable, in the greater Circle of Life.![]()
Looks like you're having fun, Bitter!
What's making me happy is getting to watch the full Rolex 24 at Daytona with minimal interruptions tonight. 13 hours to go!
Yep!
There was a pretty nasty wreck at the exit of one of the high speed corners yesterday. Both drivers survived thankfully.
I've gained temporary control over mounds of dirty laundry. Specifically, tons of bedding materials used by my son's overnight guests. They used every "soft" fabric larger than a bath towel, and all the bath towels, too. But they had a good time, so that makes me happy.![]()
Our early mud season has been called off due to snow overnight.
Happy fake birthday, Wraith.
Happy that I made my cats happy. I bought a couple of fleece/silk name brand baby blankets, cheaper than animal beds. They absolutely loved them, and slept for hours, making happy purring sounds.
I can bake you a cake.
We're stuck in a bloody snowglobe.
I had a face-to-face conversation with my ex husband, regarding our children. It was short, but real. First time in a long time....that I didn't feel like a single parent.
Then he should bake me a cake.
We're stuck in a bloody snowglobe.
Absolutely love some of the FacebookIs10 videos that have suddenly sprung up all over Facebook. Really sweet seeing some big moments of friends and families lives in the last 6 years or so (I and almost everyone I've seen joined in 2007) in that video. And then you have the people who just dick around and theirs just looks weird lol.
They didn't even offer me a video.Guess my general policy of not posting to Facebook has come to bite me in the ass, eh?
Mine is sparse but it def. got some of the most important things

Hug a hedgehog and get married today!

You have to click on the link to get the video, have you done that? Not sure if its possible to link my video here, see Minx has. https://facebook.com/lookback/
Cute vid Minx.![]()
Yeah, I clicked the link but I suspect that since I post so infrequently, they just showed me a static image of a few pics I'm tagged in. My Facebook feed has a lot of stuff, but it's almost all photos/posts I'm tagged in by wife and friends; I don't really post on my own more than once a year or two. I suspect that's why they couldn't put together a montage for me. I've been a member since spring 2004, but haven't really used it to post much of anything. Oh, well!
Most of my friends' vids were all right, my sister's was actually great.
lost where the original convo went about our piss poor credit card security, but...

MC and Visa have both agreed to move over to a more robust PIN number system for credit card purchases. By Oct 2015

Hey, I'm just happy to have electricity and heat again, even if the roads and stoplights are still messed up.
Started my internship, which is niceWorking on fiberoptic surface plasma resonance used as a biosensor with magnetic nanoparticles as labels
I wonder how long it will take for me to cause a lab accident, I am rather clumsy after all
And I like a bit of history, which makes the place I sublet from another student quite nice. It's an old college, founded in the 16th century by the first (and only) Dutch pope ever, the building is from the 18th century, has been used by napoleon, which is all pretty cool. And smack in the middle of the city center, which is a plus. It's a bit expensive, but it comes with 4 warm meals a week, so that also saves some money in return.
Keep on keepin' the beat alive!
PS4 arrives tomorrow, was planning to wait till a price drop but I had $5 off, plus 2 stacking 5% off coupons for Target, so it equaled out to its own pricedrop.
To bad everyone works late tomorrow![]()

I'm stocked and ready for winter storm PAX! Couldn't get ahold of firewood since it's been in short supply between storms, but have enough fake logs and fallen branches to last a few days if the power goes out. I even got caught up on all the laundry, and the rubber gasket seal on the front-mount washing machine waited until the last load to fail, and leak all over the floor.![]()
For the past couple of weeks, I've just been loving my job extra much. A constant stream of very many different kinds of patients with different lives, different personalities and different needs; lots of diagnostic challenges and interesting treatment considerations; plenty of opportunities, time and energy to really work with the human aspects of medicine where you can help people help themselves deal with the psychological and philosophical challenges associated with having a disease as well as with becoming healthy again; happy patients with progressive neurodegenerative diseases; a lot of independent work; a good schedule, plenty of sleep and wonderfulness at home... it's almost too much goodness but I'm relishing it because this is basically why I became a doctor and it feels so fucking awesome.
