Did they find all the bodies?
Did they find all the bodies?
Hope is the denial of reality
That's impossible to know at this point, considering we don't even know how many bodies were flown back today. They did find more bodies today, don't know if their search is over.
Keep on keepin' the beat alive!
Quite frankly I don't see what it'll take to get any real concrete form of action against Russia. Far easier to make tough-sounding soundbites, make a meaningless gesture and/or blame someone else than to make a real difficult decision that could have repercussions. Putin knows that too, he knows he can and will continue indefinitely to get away with it.

The PM of Ukraine just stepped down...

I like how some of the examples of how Russian people are out of touch are actually examples of how the US public is out of touch. "Russians have extremely different opinions about the conflict in Syria, viewing the war in that unlucky country not as a brave struggle for freedom but as a chaotic war of all against all." The comment about Libya post-Qadaffi is also not wrong, just a different plausible perspective/narrative.

News just in: Putin new PM of Ukraine.![]()

The light that once I thought compassion still casting shadows in your action
The words you shared were cold transactions that bring me to curse what you've done
When you're up there absorbed in greatness with such success you've grown complacent
I hope you scorch your many faces when you fly too close to the sun
Yeah, those examples are silly. I could give far better ones from watching official Russian news for 2 days...

Saw a Facebook page of a Russian soldier (it was linked to elsewhere) who boasted about shooting at Ukrainian military planes (from Russia) and had the photos to prove it. Page down now.![]()

The U.S. says it has "new evidence" that Russian forces have been firing artillery across the border to attack Ukrainian military positions, and that Moscow is planning to ship powerful rocket artillery to the rebels it backs in the country's east.
"We have new evidence that the Russians intend to deliver heavier and more powerful multiple rocket launchers to the separatist forces in Ukraine, and have evidence that Russia is firing artillery from within Russia to attack Ukrainian military positions," State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf said during a daily briefing.
"I can't tell you what the information is based on," Harf said.
The remarks come as the European Union agreed to add 15 people and 18 companies or other organizations to a sanctions list aimed at Moscow, according to Reuters.
However, the agreement came only after EU ambassadors were unable to reach a deal on broader sanctions that would have targeted whole sectors of the Russian economy, according to the news agency.
I bet the info is based on the same Facebook page.![]()

So is Putin an "apologize for Ukraine" kind of guy?![]()
"One day, we shall die. All the other days, we shall live."
Putin isn't a total fool. He obviously knows how to manipulate Capitalism, and "Kapitalistas" on the world stage. The Olympic Games recently, the World Cup a few years from now. So many corporate sponsors, so much money involved....no one dared bow out on principle. If Putin is assuming the same applies when it comes to European energy imports, is he any less wrong? Can he be proven wrong?
Over and over governments prove they don't care about Russia's actions.
How about getting serious? Ban all Russian nationals from coming to and from other countries that find Russia's actions deplorable. Cut off diplomatic ties. Put real teeth into sanctions. Invite all the tiny Eastern countries into NATO. Basically its "well Russian is bad we'll make some speeches maybe do minor changes in policy but you know let's not upset them too much."
Actually, your government already is quite serious about sanctions against Russia.
Congratulations America
I'm actually quite impressed by the sanctions I've been hearing about. They're by no means going to destroy the Russian economy, but they significantly undermine its growth prospects. Assuming the sanctions get implemented properly (not a certainty), they would be a proportionate response to Russia's actions. It also leaves the door open for harsher sanctions if Russia decides to send its troops into Ukraine.

More than 400Ukrainian troops have been allowed to cross into Russia after requestingsanctuary. It’s the largest, but not the first, case of desertion into Russiaby Ukrainian soldiers involved in Kiev’s military crackdown in the east of thecountry.

Geeze, just came back from an informal meeting among colleagues before school starts again tomorrow. The colleague I already mentioned was also there. (Just yesterday she posted a link to a site about which one of my acquaintances asked: "Is this something akin to 'The Onion' or what?" - sadly, said site is a German hotbed of conspiracy theories and general misinformation)
Then, out of the blue, she started to talk about Russia (she's half-Russian, btw). Good grief. She made Putin out to be some kind of saint and I myself was "naive" because I used my three axioms*) to deduce what probably happened. Not to mention that logical consistency is not her thing - when she stated that Putin had never been involved in a war (like that made any sense), I asked about Chechnia. Well, according to her that wasn't a war and relatively small and the Chechens now like to be part of Russia and (this is important) separatism cannot be allowed.
Right. She also got into how such a big non-coincidence it was that it was Malaysian airlines again (and even suggested that it was the same (yes, you read that right: Same! Not similar) plane) and so on and so forth.
Good grief. We also touched upon Ebola (for whatever reason) where I had to educate her that, since Ebola is not an airborne disease, a large-scale outbreak in 1st world countries is quite unlikely. And this woman teaches biology, for chrissakes!
*) Axiom 1: Occam's razor - The simplest explanation is most likely the correct one.
Axiom 2: Don't attribute to malice what can also be explained by either incompetence or stupidity
Axiom 3: Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
When the stars threw down their spears
And watered heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the lamb make thee?
That idea made it to my father and he's gone nuts. He's now convinced it's about to sweep the US and create apocalyptic conditions. He's buying breath masks, plastic sheeting, water filters, stocking up massively on canned and dried goods (and toilet paper) and is talking about getting a gun.
Last night as I lay in bed, looking up at the stars, I thought, “Where the hell is my ceiling?"
Sadly that sounds about typical for people who follow Russian news.

When I mentioned this law she said: "I'm okay with that."
I can't take this woman seriously anymore.
