Ok, shit is about to get real.

The light that once I thought compassion still casting shadows in your action
The words you shared were cold transactions that bring me to curse what you've done
When you're up there absorbed in greatness with such success you've grown complacent
I hope you scorch your many faces when you fly too close to the sun
Images of people celebrating on the streets of Tripoli. This looks like it must be over tonight.
Hoping there's no unnecessary bloodshed.
2205: The head of the rebels' Transitional National Council has told Al-Jazeera that Col Gaddafi's son Saif al-Islam has been captured, Reuters reports.

Comical Ali is back on our screens live it seems.
This is all NATO's fault, the "peaceful, civilian city" of Tripoli is being turned into a "Hellfire".
The BBC seems to treat everything this guy says with the upmost gravity, reporting his every word keenly on their live coverage stream.

The guy was clearly a propagandist of the worst order.
I normally watch BBC for day-to-day news (don't like Sky's adverts) but am watching Sky, they always seem to treat live breaking events better than the BBC lately.
He's better at his job than Comical Ali was.

Can't believe the difference in coverage between Sky and BBC on this. Sky is live, going from one image to another live - embedded journalists with the rebels now in Tripoli etc, with some in studio analysis.
The Beeb seems to have gone to sleep overnight and are running on a skeleton crew, showing repeats on loop.
I appreciate its Sunday night but when your job is news how difficult is it to have a list of people to call to say "major developments happening live, come back to the studio".
Would having people in the studio help any, though, if they don't have any embedded journalists in Lybia? Not to defend the BBC, but I'd think getting Brits into a London (?) studio would be the most trivial part of getting relevant, live news on air.
"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
-- Thomas Jefferson: American Founding Father, clairvoyant and seditious traitor.
Perhaps not, but they could sure do better than the Z-team putting things on loop as everyone else has gone to bed.
Somehow I suspect the coverage at 9AM to be a world of difference. Incidentally it was the same during the riots, which were happening IN LONDON. They just seem totally unable to cope with anything happening Sunday night.
There's British journalists in Tripoli.

FFS switched back to the Beeb when Sky went to ads and they're showing repeats still from the "Outskirts of Tripoli" in broad daylight. They have people embedded, they have people in Tripoli, its not that difficult. They're just not bothering as its night-time. Really pathetic.
Incidentally while there's quite some confusion (as its live) Sky are not just relying on their own journalists. Keep quoting local television, local sources, Reuters, AP, press releases or sometimes even American broadcasts as the journos share info to broadcast it. Now discussing a Reuters/ICC announcement that Gaddafi's been arrested and wondering if its Colonel Gaddafi himself or a son.
Which brings me back to purpose of this post - possible that Gaddafi's been arrested?
ICC has confirmed now that Saif al Islam Khadaffi has been arrested.
Congratulations America
It's his son.

Tempted to find a Daily Show interview with Gaddafi for this thread.
Remarkable images in Green Square
I'm always curious when so much celebratory gunfire happens why more people don't get killed. I mean what goes up must come down, it seems really rare to hear of those bullets hitting someone though.
EDIT: Watching both News channels on tabs on Firefox as am not by TV. Sky currently in Green Square, BBC are showing from Outskirts of Tripoli earlier today.
Sky Correspondent says signs of a battle having taken place at Green Square.
Well, I think we can conclude that the regime has either collapsed or lost its relevance.
Congratulations America
LOL, love this quote from the BBC Live BlogTelecast next to their broadcasting the same repeat again.0010:
Sky TV is now broadcasting live pictures of what it says are Libyan rebels celebrating and waving opposition flags in Tripoli's central Green Square.
I've not always got nice things to say about the French but this is excellent news for the Lybians hopefully and good for the rest of the world. Well done to Sarkozy and Cameron who both strived together early to get this pushed for, and Obama to join in.
in the end the tyrant was slain

Hopefully there isn't a repeat of Iraq, with regime-supporters blending in and then launching terrorist attacks. This is a real possibility if the rebels don't tread carefully.
Hope is the denial of reality
Like I said..... days!

Would someone please change the misspelling of Libya in the thread title?
Breaking News: Gaddafi pictured trying to bribe the rebels with fried chicken. Sources say it was the Colonel's Bargaining Bucket.
