How are the random freezes you mentioned, and how fast is it compared to say, a similarly priced laptop (if you have one).

The random freezes only existed with the Asus tablet - from what I gathered, the ACPI drivers had some kind of bug. And, how fast? Hard to determine. Fast enough by far for normal work and some games, I dare say.

All programs from the Microsoft Office family start up almost instantly. I also installed Sins of a Solar Empire. Plays fine as well. And the only machines I've got to compare it to, are my old Fujitsu tablet with an older Core Duo (which understandably doesn't stand a chance) and my regular desktop.

At least with regular web coding, this would be something handled by javascript/jquery.

Well, I wanted to try to avoid having to build my own homegrown drag'n'drop solution. And since the HTML5 feature "draggable" does exist, I kind of hoped that I'd "only" have to worry about event handling at "dropoff" and not also have to program for "where's the touch event now and where do I have to move the container?"

Just got a reply from a Microsoft employee: The dragging issue is a bug which has already been filed and should be fixed in the next build.

In the meantime you have to roll your own.

The whole thing looks delicious, esp. that keyboard, although it'll suck a little if it ends up being floppy and requiring a sufficiently large flat surface to sit/stand on.

The desktop is still there as always. Developing with Visual Studio, with Chrome, Simulator and Spotify open worked just fine.

Okay, so I'll now have a look how well the RTM version works on my desktop. Especially interested in Storage Spaces. Have to do Steam Backups first, though, downloading all that stuff through a 3Mbit pipe would be a bit annyoing

Currently shoving around a bit of data. Storage Spaces with the Parity scheme needs at least three hard discs attached.

Everything else works just fine. No driver problems in sight.

One snag: If you create a storage space with Parity, expect your write speed to go way down. Dropped from 120 MB/s to ~20 MB/s

Second problem which makes the concept behind storage spaces unusable in practice (at least for private users):

The capacity for spaces with parity is approximately: smallest slice (read: hard drive) multiplied by number of drives.

Which means that if you combine a 600 GB and two 2 TB discs, you'll end up with 1.8 TB of capacity.

Second annoyance: You don't get a warning that your space is close to its actual maximum capacity (instead of the displayed capacity which would be ~3 TB in my example). No, the storage space will simply drop offline and vanish. You then have to go to the system manager and manually bring the space back online - a "read only" mode was too complicated, I guess.
