How the New York Times Avoids Saying That the CIAIs Supporting Terrorists in Syria

The armed rebels in Syriacarried out several terrorist bombings this week. They detonated a bomb in theparking garage of the Palace of Justice in downtown Damascus. They bombed apolice station. They bombed a TV station. All of these are non-militarytargets. If this was the Taliban conducting such bombings in Afghanistan, theU.S. media would be calling them “terrorist attacks”. But since theseterrorists have U.S. backing, they are not “terrorists”, by definition. Theonly place the word even comes up in the the New York Times article reportingthis information is in this paragraph:
Even Mr. Assad, who hasoften belittled the Syrian insurgency as an insignificant and unpopularmovement led by what he calls foreign-backed terrorists, has tacitlyacknowledged his opponents’ tenacity, telling the cabinet on Tuesday that thegovernment was engaged in a war.
Assad merely “calls” them“foreign-backed terrorists”. That’s notreally what they are, the Times would have you believe. Well, they areterrorists, by definition. And the fact that they are indeed foreign-backed issomething the Times doesn’t seem to think is worth mentioning. There’s nomention of the fact that the CIA is coordinating the flow of money and arms tothese terrorists, even though this fact is well known and has previously beenreported by the Times. Now, why isn’t that worth even a mention in thisarticle, even just a single sentence comment in passing?

THE mother superiorof a 1500-year-old monastery in Syria warned yesterday during a visit toAustralia that the uprising against Bashar al-Assad has been hijacked byforeign Islamist mercenaries, with strong support from Western countries.
Mother Agnes-Mariamde la Croix was forced to flee to neighbouring Lebanon in June when she waswarned of a plot to abduct her, after she revealed that about 80,000 Christianshad been "cleared" by rebel forces from their homes in Homs province.
She described on thewebsite of the Greek-Melkite Catholic monastery of St James, the church sherebuilt 18 years ago after discovering it in ruins, how Islamist rebels hadgathered Christian and Alawi hostages in a building in Khalidiya in Homs. Thenthey blew it up with dynamite and attributed the act to the regular army.

The rise of alQaeda's affiliate in Syria, al-Nusra Front, which the United States designateda terrorist organisation last week, could usher in a long and deadlyconfrontation with the West, and perhaps Israel.
Inside Syria, thegroup is exploiting a widening sectarian rift to recruit Sunnis who sawthemselves as disenfranchised by Assad's Alawite minority, an offshoot ofShi'ite Islam that dominates Syria's power and security structures.
