I'm a little over 4 years into my 6 year loan on the Saturn. Could have paid it off 2 or 3 tax returns ago, but I have no reason to.
I forgot but I also have a 0% loan on both my sofa suite and bedroom furniture. Always forget that because its 0% and just paid by Direct Debit - could have paid upfront on my card (normally do even when 0% is offered) but didn't see why to bother when moving home there were a ton of expenses at once and getting the kitchen etc kitted out from savings was more efficient.

Typically though I turn down 0% offers, you can frequently get better deals (especially on things like cars) by offering up-front cash.

Yeah, my first thought after reading that earlier reply of yours was "so it took longer for Rand to rob himself?"
Last night as I lay in bed, looking up at the stars, I thought, “Where the hell is my ceiling?"

This isn't nearly as true as it used to be (for new cars). Franchised dealerships don't do their financing in house any more. They could care less if you pay up front or with a loan. They make a sale either way. Sure, there are some up front costs they have to deal when processing your purchase; taxes, titles, credit check costs rolling downhill, etc. But these are minuscule costs compared to the overall price of the car, and what the dealership makes by sealing a deal.

In fact, newer brands are moving away from the haggle. Scion doesn't do it (and has a pretty strong advertising campaign about it called Pure Price Purchase), and I've hear Fiat over here is the same.

Cars and loans puts a whole new spin on chickens and eggs, and which comes first?

In that case, the egg should come first. Everyone should have a little nest egg before they buy a bird on credit, and no one should put all their eggs in one basket.

Any other subliminal euphemisms goin' on here?
