Don't recall the books ever praising his crossbow skills, do like the not so subtle contrast between him picking the crossbow and his dad absolutely hating them.

So, Theon Greyjoy (poor, dumb bastard). His sub-plot didn't seem to make a whole lotta sense, so I originally formed the idea that the whole sequence of events from his supposed rescue to his betrayal and recapture where actually some kind of guilt/torture induced hallucination playing on the common TV/Movie theme that people being torture will often withdraw to some kind of fantasy world to avoid what's being done to their bodies, because the whole thing doesn't make a whole lotta sense on the face of it, and has a lot of TV cliches, like the rescuer who magically knows where you are and appears out of nowhere to kill the baddies, but it made sense thematically: he fantasizes about escape but he reflects on the thing's he's done and then realizes he's getting exactly what he deserves. But then this episode made it pretty clear exactly who 'Boy' is and googling the actor cast to play a certain character confirmed it, so it turns out it's all real all along and most of what happens does make a kind of sense in light of that information.
In other news, do Starks have a genetic predisposition to make terrible decisions?
And fuck all book readers apart from Lewkowski. There are plenty of places on the interwebs where you can go to discuss the show with other book readers.

I think the Stark's are TOO caught up in honor and duty to not make anything BUT bad decisions. They are from the North, where you can't afford to be subtle...you would freeze/starve to death if you were not direct.
In the South...they are not the type of folks you would want to hang around with, but they know their way around intrigue.

they are bad decisions only in relation to the back stabbing or weaseling nature of the other families. That makes them nothing more than naive.

Saw it for a third time, but she's not on the screen long enough to be certain, but it looks like she took a bolt in each arm, leg, and then finally one in the heart. I think it was to cement the idea that he's a horrific sadist. Consider how long it takes the dumbass to wind the crossbow and then think about how long she was probably there being pelted by bolts.
On another point, Arya hasn't yet realized that she should be more upset The Brotherhood let The Hound go because it means that eventually the Lannisters will know she's still alive and not dead, and not because The Hound isn't dead.
Also its hard to root for Robb. He makes pretty terrible decisions, and if he does win the war, the Realm will be too divided, as well as sapped of manpower and resources to deal with both the white walkers marching south, and Daenerys landing in Westeros.

I'm not at all caught up on the show, but from what I've seen so far and heard people comment on it's starting to stray a lot more from the books.
We're stuck in a bloody snowglobe.
The book goes by POVs so for example every single Little Finger + Varys scene (when no one else is around) didn't happen in the books themselves. I think most people agree Varys + Little Finger scenes add a lot to the show. Also a lot of minor characters are not in the show.
Ominous, I wonder for whose benefit are you posting those book spoilers? The people who haven't read them, and therefore don't want to see them, or the people who have read them and already know whatever information you're imparting and so don't need to read them?
