Hope is the denial of reality
My new employee said I am too nice, and is going to work on that.![]()
Uh oh, you are going to be corrupted by your own employee
Excited about getting to eat sushi proper after over a year without it!!!
My new mattress is being delivered tomorrow. The one I have now was cheap and it's now 7 years old. New one's a pillow top. I'm going to be sleeping gooooooooooood tomorrow night.![]()
My son has a job interview tomorrow. He wrote and printed his "resume", washed his clothes and polished his dress shoes. And I didn't have a damn thing to do with any of it.
Well, taking some of that back. Maybe I had quite a lot to do with it, and it's been a long row to hoe for both of us. His father basically gave up on him the minute he turned 18 years old, even though the boy had chosen to live with him during that time, while attending college. One year ago, a lifetime away. Last Thanksgiving was very hard for him, coming home with bruises on his face from his father's fist. Something none of us had ever had to deal with. But he was brave and open, and took refuge. I set him up with some counseling, to have a neutral place to vent. We had many moments of confusing and emotional outbursts, but we've grown very close. He took a break from school and quit his job, it was just too much to handle. He read and slept and ate a lot, and that was good for him. He also loved being around his little brother, watching him start high school, driving him around, helping with math, playing video games. They truly enjoyed being together, and it was a joy to witness. He developed his artistic side, making art on paper, writing lyrics, singing. He developed his poetic side, even sending his poems to a publisher.
I love my boy so much, my son, my baby, becoming a young man. It was one of the hardest things, as a mom, to be present but not hover. To wait, for him to talk about his feelings, his father, our family, when he was ready. To wait, week after week, month after month, and not say a word about college or a job or the future. To just let him BE. And let him choose when he was ready.

LLC instills a fear of complacency.
Faith is Hope (see Loki's sig for details)
If hindsight is 20-20, why is it so often ignored?
I actually ordered Come to daddy as well but they were out of stock, so I only got windowlicker. I saw Chris Cunningham (dude who made the videoclips of both come to daddy adn widnowlicker) live as a DJ/VJ last thursday, was pretty cool too. Pretty explicit though![]()

Ordered an Asus Xonar Essence STX sound card to go along with my Swans M200MKIII stereo speakers. Recommendations told me that the card was the great victor for high-end 2.0 setups as well as output for headsets. Fits me perfectly!

Listening to Nuvole Bianche by Ludovico Einaudi for the piano will never be the same.![]()
Tomorrow is like an empty canvas that extends endlessly, what should I sketch on it?
Sshhh, you'll awaken Chaloobi!
In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.
Nook update today! Improved functionality a lot - now you can search content not from B&N and organize into bookshelves.
Oh, and the page turns no longer do the ghosty stuff.
It's quite good.
We're stuck in a bloody snowglobe.
Happy means family to celebrate with, for the Thanksgiving holiday. We'll have more food than we can eat, more leftovers than we can store. Pretty sure there will be containers and foil wrapped foods packed in the trunk of my car when we prepare to leave. Someone will even sneak wrapped Christmas presents in there, too. We'll undoubtedly watch a bunch of movies, we all love movies. We'll share stories and laugh. Someone will bring out a damn photo album or funny home video. We have tickets to see the Barn's collection of art, that should be nice, even though the kids balked a bit. We were going to try a segway tour of Philly, but that fell apart. My sister also made reservations at some great restaurant, and had to call back in September with a specific number of people.
I'll see both my sisters at the same time, something we don't do often. My kids will see my side of their family at the same time, and it will be for a holiday with laughter and food and celebration. But not for Christmas, which means presents and other stuff. Thanksgiving is a great holiday for getting family together, but not for too long, and not with too many demands or expectations from anyone. I'm sure my sister feels pressure to decorate and clean her home, and anticipate every single need for every single person. Sleeping and bedding particularly, because we're a family that doesn't sleep well in strange places. We'll have a choice of down or feather or synthetic pillows. All with freshly laundered cases. She'll turn up the hot water heater for multiple showers, and put out fluffy white towels and new bottles of shampoo. Something happened when she married this family, because every time we take a shower there's a whole new bar of soap in the bath. Everyone gets a little basket of toiletries, fresh toothbrush and razor, cute bottles of mouthwash and deodorant. Sounds like a lot of work to me, but maybe that's why we're going there for the holiday. Her mother-in-law has probably been cooking for the last month, all sorts of Greek delicacies. She probably laundered and pressed every doily, and sorted out the good holiday china. Last year, we drank some of her special cherry liqueur that had aged for at least a year, in tiny little footed glasses meant just for liqueurs.
I picked up an over-night graham cracker cheesecake thing, might try to get some flowers on the way there, too.![]()
I am so grateful for so many things! I need to remember and celebrate that more than once a year. More than a birthday or Hallmark holiday or a anything on the calendar. We all should, but it's not so easy. Is it?
From the messing with groove thread.
Well, the vet just called. Turns out the swelling is mostly benign. There are some small malign elements in it, and it may turn out that at the back of the nose there are more, since he saw growth there which is unlike a benign swelling, but at least it gave him enough reason to want to operate Sjimmie to remove it. After doing that he'll send more samples to the lab and it still may turn out to be bad. But this is much better news than he expected.
Yay! Against all odds! Sjimmie gets to brighten our lives with her silly antics a little longer than expected.
So, this aint over yet, but I'm a happy camper still.

I could have had class. I could have been a contender.
I could have been somebody. Instead of a bum
Which is what I am
I aim at the stars
But sometimes I hit London
She's a cute calico kitty, good news! How do you pronounce Sjimmie? Is that like "Yimmy"?
Pronounced like the dance "Shimmy".![]()
