I'm happy because I have ducted air-con throughout the house now. Got it for half price through a mate too.

I am happy because this forum exists.
I am happy because I am finally encouraged by Atari moderator to imagine a planet without politics, religion, economics, sex and advertising.

I am amused by the sight of a moderator who feels the owner of Atari without being an employee, who thinks that iron fist leads to more customers.
I am amused by the sight of the Atari employee who set the new rules, based on the ideas that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton clearly disapproved in her speech.
I am amused by the idea that telling teens not to do something is a good way to encourage them to do exactly that.

My hubby is a cool geek!
He built his own telescope. Tonight we viewed the moon, and Orion's nebula. Have to wait for Saturn to rise a little before we venture back out.

    Geeks rule!

I read your post as a sexual innunendo, which upped it's enjoyment in my eyes.

    P.S. Don't you pop soon?

Crow! That's hilarious! Astronomy is your bag, baby?

I've got a few more months to go... first week of June.

Working a 15 hour day is messing with my groove, but I produced this today, which makes me happy.

This is carved from sterling silver, instead of wax. On something this size (of a quarter) it's easier to be more precise, and this is a master, to be rubber molded to make duplicates. This is the first time I have ever carved a face, and I was afraid to take this job.

Or just pure awesome? You decide!
In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

You know how to make molds for, and cast sterling silver? Hmm...

Yup. All done right here in my shop.

BTW, February is like Xmas. I didn't anticipate this. Last year, at this time, we were being sent home, because we were so slow.

I was aware of his awesome jewelry skills, and his abilities with photography but did not know that he knew mold making/casting...this is an added bonus...

Say I wanted something in sterling silver, or a slightly tougher less precious metal...whats the going rate like? Also, would you be open to casting things that other people (ie. myself) have made? I have an idea for something, I may never get to it, but it would look a lot better, and probably be a lot more durable in metal or silver than it would in 3D printed ABS plastic...

Bitter is, without a doubt, THE most talented person here. Hell, anywhere! And he cooks too!

I also have lasers. Did I mention the laser?

That depends. Silver is cheap. Depending on the size of the item you want molded and cast. Brass is a only a litter stronger, but wears (as in abrasion resistant) better.

Yes I can cast for you. There are some limitations, as far as the complexity of your model in regards to molding. And size. $25 mold start price, my average mold size. Casting is $25 plus metal. Multiple piece's get a price break.

Take your time thinking about it. I am so swamped right now, that I blew off ImAnOgre's inquiry into having something made. Which reminds me, I need to apologize for that.

We just don't know everyone elses talents here, and you need to get out more.

So, if you are a Jack-of-all-trades, and you do them long enough, do you eventually become the master-of-all-trades?

The chick is not finished, and the face/chin needs worked on some more after it is cast in metal. Some goes for her arms, they need shortened and detailed. She is just so fragile and I broke her legs off three times trying to carve it. The moon is again, the size of a quarter. The chick has been the most difficult thing I have ever carved, not only because I have no frame of reference for boobs, but it was so difficult to hold in my fingers and work.

Oh, She will be holding a loop from the top of the moon, so that she swings freely with the moon between her legs.

    Minx, what is Xante'?

So if I suddenly said make my shiny, now, would you blow me off too?

    Yup.
This is unprecidented. Last year at "that place", we were being sent home, without pay, because it was so slow. I think I also have more customers that we did at "that place". Now, it's like Xma$!

    Aww

My boy just made me laugh.

He said something random about dinner tomorrow, and I said "sorry Charlie."

He told me his name isn't Charlie, so I asked him what to call him. He asked me if his answer would improve his chances of getting his way. I said yes.

    His answer, finally...

    "Sasha."

She laughed for the first time tonight! A true and authentic laugh, not those silly giggles.

Yes, that one. I was reading through it, saw the post, thought "Well this guy sounds familiar", then saw the username and then mentally slapped myself in the head for not catching it sooner.
