Got 9/10 for an exam that I didn't even study for. I was surprised![]()
Humph, I hope you feel you haven't earned it
"One day, we shall die. All the other days, we shall live."
"Humph"?
I did earn it since I was the one who did the exam, I didn't cheat or ask the professor pleading questions.
In fact, I earn anything so long as I did it by my own accord.

I found this really nifty software called Auddigle. It basically records the audio on your computer to identify a song. It works surprisingly well. Hasn't missed a single Japanese one, and not even the German dub of the opening of Dragon Ball Z opening, lol.
Tomorrow is like an empty canvas that extends endlessly, what should I sketch on it?
^^I'll take that as a complementBut yes, I am a genius
And does Auddigle recognise Italian songs?
I finally got my phone update! I can copy-paste.![]()
Hasn't been 3 weeks yet but I have just recently come home from a fantastic holiday with my wife and kids and some friends with their family - a group of 9 of us managed to spend 11 days together on vacation and not have any drama's or hassles, it was just the holiday we needed too.
Now to have a week at home pottering around the house like an old fart recovering from my recent excesses! before I head back to reality *work*![]()

My parents are watching the little monster tonight, so hubby and I are going out for dinner and drinks at a local pub!

I was cleaning silica gel out of a chromatography column today, and had a slight accident. The column is essentially a simple glass tube with a narrow section at its bottom. They are used for separation of mixtures of chemicals - the column is filled with silica gel, the mixture of chemicals is dissolved in a solvent, then the solution is passed through the packed column, adding additional solvent to keep the column from going dry, and eluting the chemicals. Different chemicals move along the length of the column at different speed, so they can be collected separately at the bottom of the column.
As any other piece of glassware, the column has to be cleaned after work. First of all, as much solvent as possible is removed from the column, which is done by applying positive pressure from the top end of the column. This pushes most of the solvent out through the bottom of column, leaving relatively dry silica gel. The silica gel is removed by turning the column upside down, and attaching the compressed air line to the narrow bottom end, which is now facing up, which pushes the silica gel through the (former) top end.
The problem with these operations is, sometimes the column breaks, when the silica gel is stuck and high pressure builds up inside the column. Depending on how high the pressure is, this happens more or less violently, spreading glass shards all around. Since whoever is applying the pressure is usually less than 1m from the column, he gets a fair share of the shrapnel.
When this happens during the removal of silica gel, it may get even more unpleasant. The easiest way to dispose of the silica gel is to hold the column in hand above some container so as not to spread the silica gel all over the place. Obviously, when the column shatters while in hand, one receives almost all the shrapnel with maximum force, as the distance from the column is very small.
So, I was removing the silica gel from a column today, and it just wouldn't come out. After fighting with the column for a while I decided that since pressure won't remove the silica gel, I'll have to remove it manually, with a spatula. As I inserted the spatula in the wider end of the column, the end of it fell off. Upon closer inspection, I saw a few long cracks on the column. Somehow, it had cracked during the application of pressure, but it hadn't shattered. Obviously, if I had decided to try to remove the silica gel using compressed air for a bit longer, it would've broken all the way, and I'd have to type a post in the "messing with my groove" thread, using only one hand. And since I held the column at the height of my waist, I'd probably have absorbed a handful of the shards with my crotch...
So, to sum up, having avoided shooting shattered glass in my hand and crotch is making me happy today!

Hey hey hey now, girls are NOT icky, and we don't have cooties, either! You have a mother, after all.![]()
Glad you found a mate-lover-partner-friend-interest. Not many of us here really care which gender, but care more about personal happiness. It's refreshing to hear anyone, particularly young folk, talk and post and brag about their personal happy-Ness-es.
Glad your finals are sounding easy-peasy, too! After all, if you could climb that dizzying Australian bridge without puking or giving up.....not too many obstacles are in your way.![]()
Strawberry season!
Went out with my mother and Kaitlyn to a pick your own strawberries field, picked nearly 9lbs between the two of us. Kaitlyn sat by our buckets and pulled out some, squishing them when we weren't looking. She was a mess by the end but a very happy girl!
We just did a free pick with Scarlett. She would get so mad at us for passing the plants that had strawberries on them. She picked every single one before moving on. Ended up going home with about twice as many as we intended to keep. Luckily she loves eating them. She was doing pretty good till she stepped on one, at that point she not only learned that they are mushy, but also slippery.
"In a field where an overlooked bug could cost millions, you want people who will speak their minds, even if they’re sometimes obnoxious about it."
The Kid and I gave Mommymunchkin a real cell phone for Mother's Day. She had a cheap-ass trac phone that was basically useless to her. The numbers were tiny...really tiny, the text was blurry and tiny...really tiny, and the ring volume and the ear-piece volume was quiet...way too quiet. I borrowed it for a few days and hated it. So, we bought her a nice phone that she is learning to use, and added her to my plan. We have created a monster! She is learning to text, sorta. For some reason, she can't get that you have to push the number key the correct amount of times to get the corresponding letter! So far, this has made for some rather hilarious texts, and a lot of decoding on our part! Oh well, she is happy!

I don't have a problem with authority....I just don't like being told what to do!Remember, the toes you step on today may be attached to the ass you have to kiss tomorrow!RIP Fluffy! 01-07-09 I'm so sorry Fluffster! Wednesday I'm going to see Moby, Aeroplane and some other DJ at a rather exclusive party![]()
Keep on keepin' the beat alive!
Just made applesauce. Cinnamon applesauce. I haven't done that since the kids were little, but I had a fairly large quantity of golden delicious apples lying around.
It's really good hot, so it should be fantastic once it's chilled.
We're stuck in a bloody snowglobe.
I'm happy to haer all of you enjoying real food, though I am jealous that since we have from my happy rural home to the big city and things are still a bit "up-in-the-air" there will not be home canning in the rummy house this year. Luckily we have plenty from years past, yet I will miss the smells and family togetherness that always accompanied canning season.
The worst job in the world is better than being broke and homeless
I've never really canned things before, when I've done things it was just immediately usable portions - and if I have extra fruits I freeze 'em instead. This summer I'm learning to make proper pickles, though, and I think I'll try making jelly.
I just have to find a ginormous pot.
Also, I planted tomatoes, cucumbers, and watermelon (that probably won't grow) over the weekend. Bit late for it, but maybe not so late that I won't get my yummies.
