The emergency legislation that was passed put forth the most Draconian Police powers ever put forward, the largest state seizure of power since the Dark Ages. Larger even than WWII.

It's often joked that during the Napoleonic War a temporary tax was put in place called Income Tax and the rest is history. We must keep a track on the seizure by the state of powers during this pandemic and ensure when it is safe to do so those powers are relinquished.

The pandemic is serious but fighting it must not come at the cost of permanently curtailing hard won liberties. This must not be a Reichstag Fire incident.
