Not to mention that your bloody tabloids foster this "us versus them" type of thinking which is very much one of the reasons for Corbyn. Because any kind of moderate person will be labelled devil incarnate.

"One day, we shall die. All the other days, we shall live."
Absolutely disgraceful:

The UK has completely lost its way, no good judgement left whatsoever.
"One day, we shall die. All the other days, we shall live."
That's a really tough choice. I mean Spready Mercury I would go for any day of the week normally, a nod to an absolute legend and one of the greatest musicians of all time who left too soon.
But Gritsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Anti Slip Machinery ... come on that's good. How often do we get a nod to Timmy Mallet, the greatest child's comic when I was growing up?
I'm torn, I wouldn't know how to vote. Maybe lean towards Gritsy Bitsy.
At least its not Gritty McGritface. That joke's been done to death.
God damn it now I have to change my vote to Spready. It's been 50-50 since I first saw the poll at 4000 votes. Looks like it'll be a clear mandate.
"One day, we shall die. All the other days, we shall live."
I'm fond of Gritsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Anti Slip Machinery myself.
Last night as I lay in bed, looking up at the stars, I thought, “Where the hell is my ceiling?"
ICJ without a British judge for the first time since 1946. Interesting commentary on what's happening on the UN as well.

Most likely because Ken Clarke revealed the real reason for the proposal

40% cut to FCO budget in one year :

Yes, some of those extra funds will, hopefully, be allocated to FCO--among others--later.
In other news, after Andrew Neil's meltdown on Twitter last week, the Spectator has decided to take things to the next level. Keeping it classy:

Some background:Meghan Markle is unsuitable as his wife for the same reason that Wallis Simpson was unsuitable: she’s divorced and Harry’s grandmother is supreme governor of the CofE.
[...]
When the Queen dies, it will be pretty well impossible to invest the actual holder of the office of monarch with any real degree of respect. [...] Some of us will simply detach our respect for the office of monarch from the person who holds it when the Queen goes.
Obviously, seventy years ago, Meghan Markle would have been the kind of woman the Prince would have had for a mistress, not a wife.
[...]
The immediate challenge though is for the CofE to devise a service to bless this particular union. Good luck with that.

But the figures don't suggest that Brits from all classes and communities are merrily procreating to the same extent. More than half the increase is attributable to mothers born outside the UK, and many of those mothers born here will be second generation immigrants. Of the indigenous mothers, many are in their twenties and some of the increase there is attributable to more generous benefits.
[...]
That's why organisations such as the Optimum Population Trust seem so beside the point, proselytising about how we shouldn't have more than two children. The people most likely to take their views to heart are the agonised Anglo-Saxon liberals, for whom excess fecundity is never going to be much of a problem in the first place. They don't seem to cut much ice with the Somali mothers you see in West London.

No doubt JRM is a lunatic, but, regardless, this is a strategy many Tory MPs will want to pursue.
In other news, this is the best defense of the pornservative MP that I've seen so far:

"One day, we shall die. All the other days, we shall live."
It's absolutely correct and the actions of the disgraced Police officers involved here are utterly contemptible.
Firstly the original raid on Green's office was unforgiveable, ordered by a pawn of the government of the day against political opponents it was unprecedented and the action of a banana republic.
Secondly the officer involved had to leave the force in disgrace and has continued to pursue a personal grudge against Green.
Thirdly the "evidence" such as we have is meaningless and weak, "thumbnails" of porn images found in a browser.
Fourthly no crime has been committed or alleged.
Fifthly the officers involved were ordered to destroy all records as part of routine data protection laws etc and this was not done.
These meaningless smears about something that is not a crime a decade after the fact without any semblance of real evidence should not be treated seriously and the ex-officers who are breaking the law here by breaking data protection laws and spreading unfounded smears are the real story. It is a disgrace.
As much as I don't like him I would not support the Police raiding Jeremy Corbyn's office or one of his ministers then spreading smears about something that is not a crime.
... please reread the tweet.

It's generally a breach of any IT or security policy to share your credentials. I imagine that's fairly important especially in his position.
That said, I agree that the police should never release information they find during a search, that seems to me like a serious breach of privacy. Plus he wasn't doing anything illegal anyway - maybe improper and presumable against their iT policy, but not illegal.
Keep on keepin' the beat alive!
I generally don't believe in using the c-word but the appointment of Toby Young is a pretty strong argument for introducing that word to the vocabulary of political commentary. This government has no judgement, no standards, no shame.
Are you an MP or govt. official with access to sensitive information potentially relevant to national security? Is that your job?
Judging from context and from the letters sent out by their IT dept. this doesn't appear to be a persuasive defense.

Go home RB, you're drunk. The man is a detestable incompetent that embodies the very opposite of the notion of meritocracy.

You mean he's not a part of the far left orthodoxy in education. He's got great achievements in the school sector leading from the front in setting up and improving schools.

No, I mean that he's an irredeemable little shit and a Trumpian embarrassment for the Tories.
