    Default Who are all the guests???

    At this moment there are 34 users online in the forums. 11 are members and 23 are guests. This is very typical; there's always a bunch of people on line but most of them are guests. Who are these guest people anyway???

    Mostly bots and spiders. I've noticed a bunch of the guests keep trying to register or force posts through, but can't quite crack the human verification system.

    If the search machines are known, they'll show up as being what they are, but the data file I have on the server isn't exactly an exhaustive list of all the known crawlers. Any that aren't known do show up as guests.

    edit: When the number of guests gets very high like that, it's pretty much always a bot swarm.

    I imagine a warm, well lit room with a small group of people having quiet, and sometimes loud, conversation and there's a bunch of mindless mechanical things outside scratching on the windows and pushing on the door.
