The name of the valley is Toggenburg and the mountains are called Churfirsten. The peaks have such fabulous names as Frümsel and Brisi.

I know it's Toggenburg, I looked at the photo URL.

We have a much more pitiful Toggenburg. http://goo.gl/maps/7SBGx

I would love to see a time-lapse video of icicles being made.

Pfft, our Toggenburg Road isn't that bad...right? Oh wait it is relatively crappy.

That's a Maiensäss it is not used in Winter. Usually the cows will be brought there in May hence the name Maiensäss.

I've done those walks with cows before. It's really scenic and somehow doesn't smell too awful.

You mean like one diagonal roof? Probably because you would either have to make a huge tall wall, or get one side of the room with minimum height. If you made the roof flat, the snow would just keep building up and become super heavy. A common construction against such snowfall, is to build snow fences in a tactical position away from the cabin. Then you might at least not have to shovel in front of the entrance. Although you're completely right, most people have to shovel their way into their cabins at winter time.
Tomorrow is like an empty canvas that extends endlessly, what should I sketch on it?

Seriously? That would be kinda awesome.

This isn't the greatest picture in regards to quality (taken on a Apple product!) but this is the view I have from the sun lounger I'm currently sitting on.

Wherever it is, it must be south of the equator, being upside down 'n all.

  25. #445
Singapore is just north of the equator

    I think everyone knows that.

Though for some reason I missed the other people identifying the photo before me. But I've seen that view before.

So, then why is everything upside down?

I don't know -- I thought you thought I was saying Singapore was "down under" below the equator.

    Clearly Singapore is just crazy.

I'm not as good as Bitter in terms of photography but I took this from inside a botanical garden Singapore.
