Thread: Bush Enlists Religious Leaders to Pump-Up Iraq War

I have no problem with people keep their lives private from the internets. I do the same. It seems wise.

But when I say pretty obvious statements such as, the government is "maddeningly resistant...to change" I have no credibility at all because I'm saying something so obviously absurd?

I make general assertions that are*pretty reasonable, and you criticize them for being general with your own partisan general statements.

Hey, I don't contest those last two points about Obama, or the media's adulation of him. I'm disappointed that he is politics as usual, but I'm not surprised one iota. But I am still glad that the Bush years were repudiated by electing a Dem. Hillary would have been fine with me, but I think she had too much baggage to be elected. Besides, I wasn't too impressed by the Clinton presidency. He seems to have mastered doing as little as possible and then taking credit for the lucky economic trends for which Bush I laid the groundwork.

I don't disagree with your assertion. I just resent your appeal to self as authority gambit. "Listen to me, because I know." I have a negative visceral response to deus ex machina events in movies and books as well as debates. It is yet another way you've changed during college, and I'm nowhere near the only one to mark it. Sure, you may have been a Dem when you were 18, but you sure as hell aren't now in practice, by your own admission:

Plus, you made that clear during teh election, when you signed on with McCain's economically extreme campaign.

The reason I say, "look, I know" is because everything you've said suggests that you actually don't understand the magnitude of the situation.
