Why would an RSS feed bother them? It's totally optional to use.
It... devalues... the value/meaning... of conventional forum usage...

There were bright orange RSS buttons all over the place.
I objected to the bright orange (they do come in other colors, after all). I have no clue what other people were objecting to.
Also, they skewed the balance of the page. I actually didn't know he had removed them for a long time because I used ad-block on it immediately after I bitched.

The old place had an RSS feed (multiple I think) but didn't advertise it, I didn't discover it until I clicked on the RSS button in IE by accident one day.

I don't think anyone actually uses the RSS feeds, but just in case, I'm going to leave them up. However, the buttons are going away.
