Thread: Happy Independence Day!

    Default Happy Independence Day!

Finland, my favourite nation in the world, turns 93 today. A humble and unassuming people spent those years shaping an agrarian, backwards East European shit-hole into a modern technocracy. The nation's values are centered around equality, fairness and human decency. Instead of the 'American dream', it is perceived as a moral imperative to ensure a slice for everyone, rather than combating for one's own and fuck the rest of you dumb shmucks. This nation has afforded me, and a couple million more, health care, education and shelter without asking more of us than what we can give. I serve the nation in my own way, and it is my profound hope that I can contribute to the great system in a positive way. I love this land.

    Hyvää itsenäisyyspäivää!

In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

Suomi is a distant land about which we know little.
When the sky above us fell
    We descended into hell
    Into kingdom come

I felt the urge to drink more than usual today. So I did. This must be the reason, somehow.
    Happy Independance Day!

    Happy birthday to the Suomi.

May you continue to be a united, tiny and easily manageable population.

Unlike most Finns, I don't want to tell Newsweek how to do their job!

No but really Finland is pretty swell and I'm kinda sad I more or less will have to spend considerable amounts of time living abroad down the line

I'm more amazed by the fact that there is a level of drunkenness that Nessus had not yet experienced...

It's like the deal with that Sisyphos bloke

I push that crazy, drunken boulder up that grainy, moist hill of poor life decisions and retarded conversation

And at some point the boulder, or me, gets so wasted that I stop experiencing things in a meaningful way

Because I am so fucked up

Then I pass out, the boulder slides back down that hill and I wake up not knowing what the fuck those last 20 feet of the climb were like, where my pants are and a mouth that's coated in a Draino-like substance
