Thread: Linux Music Players (not shit)

Default Linux Music Players (not shit)

I'm kind of looking for a music player thats on linux and isn't shit. I'd like something similar in functionality to winamp or windows media player but which is on linux and, crucially, isn't shit.

I can't stress enough that what I am looking for is a music player which is both on linux and not shit.

    So,

    a) Linux
    b) Music
    c) Not shit

I am also not interested in players which are complete shit, exceptionally shit or utter shit.

The least shit one discovered so far is Audacious, since it doesn't e.g. continue playing the song after you've shut the window or anything like that. But it doesn't really do library management or cd ripping, which is shit.

I could be persuaded to settle for something merely crap.

If you're too lazy to build a fake website and register the domain just for the purpose of an off the cuff joke on the off-topic board of an internet forum then basically I have no time for you.

I suppose you'd need the effort of building a fake shit music player to go with the fake website?

XMMS is okay, very much like winamp.

I'm told XBMC is an okay WMP-like program.

What about Banshee? (Gnome only, though)

Or Amarok which is KDE only

XBMC features possibly the most over-designed user interface ever conceived.

Winner, though it could do with being more winamp like in terms of interface.

LMAO. Any luck with the search?

[edit] Would you consider any music players on Linux which are "the shit"?

I liked Amarok the most when I used to play music from Linux. (I know it was mentioned already, I just want to give a second opinion.)
