Default Bufferbloat, or how progress is killing your porn

I hate slow internets, and I hate progress, so I found the below articles on "bufferbloat" very interesting:

    http://www.cringely.com/2011/01/2011...hat-two-words/ (technically somewhat incorrect)

    http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/n...-arms-race.ars (somewhat toxic to Fuzzy)

    http://gettys.wordpress.com/2010/10/...-puzzle-piece/ (the mystery begins)

    http://gettys.wordpress.com/2010/11/...h-your-switch/

    http://gettys.wordpress.com/2010/12/...with-wireless/

    (PLOT THICKENS)

    (the reveal)

PS. put very very simply, an unsmart "more is better" obsession with buffering on the part of OS-developers, router-makers and ISPs is severely fucking up the internet's built-in mechanisms for handling congestion. This is a huge problem in today's youtube-centric wifi-dependent mobile internet world, and instead of tackling that problem in a good way everyone's just pushing for bandwidth caps or more pipes or something.

Yeah, read about that on Slashdot. Quite interesting and something of a problem. I wonder if that's the reason why the router at my parents' house has the problems it has when the line is near saturation. Then again it could be simply the combination of a shitty connection with a shitty router
