When are we going to take bets on the next major city to implode? I've always favored Vegas.

Call it disaster porn if you like. Each photographer buys something while there --- food, hotel, renting cars or whatever. That won't revive Detroit, but the story is still worth telling. And capturing Life in pictures.
Probably they are spending all this in the burbs. They take day trips into the apocalypse zone to capture the images. In any case, I have no problem with it. The death of a modern city is visually stunning and often beautiful.

Ugh OG. This isn't a light thing.... Not Vegas, in any case. The mix of race polarization and very narrow economic basis is fairly unique to the rust belt. I would think Vegas would survive all but the worst economic disasters, just because it is suffused with evil.

It is pretty interesting to see. We have filmed in a small town that has been abandoned to make way for Antwerp harbor's new docks, but the docks are postponed, plus the case has been moving around for 15+ years by now, so it is now an almost-empty town (15 people left 1,5 year ago, probably less now) that is slowly falling apart, with plants growing pretty much everywhere, and loads of awesome graffiti (and a lot of crappy graffiti). The place attracted some squatting artists for a while too, so they made a lot of public art stuff in abandoned lots. Pretty neat to visit.

And that was a small town, so imagine how interesting it is to see for such a major city!
Keep on keepin' the beat alive!
